Cruz eyes double-agent delegates in bid to snatch GOP nomination from Trump
The Washington Times ^ | 4/13/2016 | S.A. Miller

Sen. Ted Cruz’s hopes for winning the Republican presidential nomination outright have faded, and he has shifted to a strategy of gaming the rules, angling to send enough double-agent delegates to the July convention to snatch victory from front-runner Donald Trump.

It’s a major reversal for Mr. Cruz, who just weeks ago insisted he would win the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination before the convention. But major wins in Utah, Wisconsin and Colorado have not closed the gap, with a series of East Coast primaries looming.

Now the best option for the senator from Texas is trench warfare at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

What about the will of the people?

The will of the people is to not involve themselves in politics. Which is why elections are now nothing more than popularity contests. Hence the celebrity Trump.

Temper, Temper, Lucky9teen!!

Mr. Trump also resides in Florida, given that FL is his second home.

No comparison between FL and CO's shenanigans. Note that CO changed its "rules" in August specifically to STOP TRUMP.

Rush just addressed the subject.

In Colorado, it wasn’t the issue. The issue was vote shenanigans where bosses went behind closed doors and made decisions that were counter to the actual vote.

People can complain about 2nd round delegates all they want, but the bottom line is that once a delegate becomes free, then they are free.

The only way anyone will know if they won them over is at the very moment they actually cast their vote.

IF this isn't fraud, and it is, it is certainly bad faith. The reasonable expectation of the voters is that their votes would be counted in the selection. Perhaps in ties the party decides, perhaps, but it isn't even close to a tie. Further the party rules are a unilateral action by the parties against the voters. The voters never agreed to that bargain. The GOP has done everything they can to protect their side of the bargain while denying the voters their reasonable expectations.

Yeah, but there's a huge difference between "bad faith' and fraud and corruption, which is what Trump falsely accused the Colorado GOP of. Is he unaware of that difference? Really? Or is he just, per usual, playing fast and loose with the facts, the truth and the reality?

Better yet, either way....(whether due to Trump's ignorance or due to his penchant for falsely accusing others)....do we really want someone like "that" (yet another one) in the White House for another four years (even assuming that he would be able to beat Hillary...which, by all polls thus far, show he'd get beaten and would lose badly).

Seriously, folks.....Trump has made so many false accusations already...does anyone really think that, if president, he wouldn't just double down on that asinine attitude?

Not necessarily easy to determine which delegate voted for which candidate, as roll calls will be by state with a spokesman announcing totals. Of course, it would be obvious if there was no splitting of votes by a delegation.

The Colorado GOP has a right to protect their primary process from “outsiders”, which is exactly why they changed things. And Trump is definitely an outsider. What Colorado did is perfectly legal....and perfectly understandable, considering.

Speaking of Rush, did you hear him ask this?

My question is this. The Colorado process has been known for months and months and months. I'm serious here, not trying to make a point with it. I'm actually asking a question. Why not complain about this two months ago? Why not call attention to it last month, two weeks ago, two months ago; why wait until after the results to start complaining about how it was rigged? It's not as though something happened in Colorado that nobody knew was gonna happen. It's not as though they changed the rules in the middle of the process, during the weekend. So why call attention to it now? Why not do so a month ago? Why not back in September or October or whenever the Trump campaign found out how Colorado was gonna manage its affairs here during the primary?

I imagine that if a ‘donor’ has money invested in a delegate to vote a certain way that there’s some way of checking on what they actually did. Just my thinking on the subject, though. I know I wouldn’t pay for something and have to pay and have no idea whether it ever got done or not.

I have witnessed such ‘donors’.

There’s a lot of PR pressure to ensure that not all delegates are in their 50s and 60s and relatively wealthy and at least semi-retired. Wealthy party loyalists do pay expenses for younger and less-well off delegates, alternates, and young people observers. The most common use is parents paying for a child. I have never heard of a donor demanding to control the delegate’s vote, which in most states isn’t possible anyway as the delegate doesn’t even necessarily control his (first ballot) vote.

Perhaps you have proof of this bogus claim?

I was there as a Delegate and this simply did not happen.

“Trump supporters are in search of utopia.”

No we are looking for some one to accomplish a few simple things.......

Build the wall authorized, and promised by Congress to Reagan in 1986.

Stop the punishing policies that are driving American companies away from the US.

Reverse the US’s military decline, stop protecting European socialist countries at no expense to them, and great cost to the American people.

Stop the disastrous influx of Muslims into our Christian nation. Islam is NOT a religion. It’s a repressive form of 7th century government posing as a religion.

Return government back to the people from the elitist political class that has seized it and is in process of destroying the Grand American Experience.

Change “Free Trade” into “Fair Trade.”

“He does this, just think what he’d do to the American people....”

Never mind the will of the voters. Many Cruz supporters think this just proves he’s a fighter and can win. Another slick politician that doesn’t care about what the voters want....just what we need.

When did I say people were being coerced in to voting for Cruz? If I did my fingers must have run away from me.

But, it is legal to wine and dine the delegates. However, in OHIO there’s an 1800s law that could be used against it.
