Why would this concern elitist planners in DC? They all can afford LASIK and fake horn-rimmed glasses.

Until recently, you used to be able to shop around for best lens prices if certain websites offered discounts but are no longer offering those. One of the phone reps said they’re now a fixed price & can no longer be discounted.

One of the many reasons I don’t wear contacts. I’ve tried but they are not for me.

“Prescriptions are brand specific.”

For good reason, based on my experience. My eye doc said that there are subtle differences in fit, comfort, etc. between brands, even if the nominal size is the same. He proved it when he gave me sample lenses from about 6 different combo’s of products and makers before I found one that felt right. He would have been glad to write a prescription for whichever type I wanted, and cost had nothing to do with it. An imperfectly fitting contact lens is misery and unhealthy, whatever the price.

Maybe some people have more “generic” eyes, but I think the author is blinded either by ideology or $$$$.

I've bought my disposable Accu-View Moist contacts oversees in duty free shops for about half the cost of anywhere in the states. My prescription hasn't changed in years. If I am told I should get my eyes checked every two years, why shouldn't I be able to buy my contacts any damn where I please for the lowest price during those two years? Why do I have to go get a new prescription if I find a cheaper source?

I hate this kind of crap.
