Cruz shunned at N.Y. GOP gala dinner
Washington Examiner ^ | 4/15/16 | Anna Giaritelli

Posted on 04/15/2016 4:10:43 AM PDT by markomalley

Attendees at the annual New York State Republican gala were more interested in consuming their dinner Thursday night than listening to Ted Cruz address the audience.

The three remaining Republican presidential candidates gave remarks to hundreds of guests at the Manhattan event. GOP front-runner Donald Trump spoke first, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich before finally Cruz took the stage.

While some guests remained seated during the introduction of the New York businessman, who leads the race with a 30-point margin, Cruz received the worst reception.

Guests could even be heard on livestreamed footage poking around with knives and forks as they picked apart their dinners as the Texas senator spoke. Cruz focused on many of the policies — immigration, national security, jobs — that he has also addressed at campaign rallies.

Members of the audience also walked around the large room at the Grand Hyatt in midtown Manhattan as the tuxedo-adorned speaker shared his vision for America.

Cruz may have expected that kind of unwelcoming environment after he criticized New Yorkers for their values. Kasich, ranked second in the Empire State primary, was also ignored by some attendees.

Pure propaganda BS. Before the audio “problem” you could hear Cruz getting applause.

You are correct. For Cruz it was a day at the beach compared to the crap Trump has taken since Day One.

Being from NY, I was embarrassed for NYers being rude, but I need to get over that. Cruz deserved what he got, and 10x worse.

“Then there is Trump with his juvenile speeches that repeat everything over and over.”

We’re political junkies, so we’ve heard his speeches, full of repetition, 50 times. However, all people who hear one of his speeches aren’t political junkies and it could be the first one they’ve heard.

“Juvenile” is in the ear of the hearer. However he comes across, it beats “televangelist smarm” every day of the week.

So is listening to how someone refurbs buildings and gets addresses changed or calls Canadians to build in America what the NYC GOP wanted to hear?

18 minutes of cute stories everyone has heard. NOTHING about policy...then the NY values.

Honesty is a good ethic. “I won’t mention his name. His name is blah blah...”

The first responders are great all over the nation.

So the rest of the speech was about NY Values. Why do people go to NY? To see what other people make and do. People are great, really great.

I learned so much.

I wasn't referring to different speeches. lol

Seriously, wouldn't you love to hear him and Cruz debate one on one? Let's sort out if they are both really conservative.

There is a reason Trump's handlers don't let him debate Ted without more than 3 others on stage to distract and dilute the debate. Even when it got down to 5 on stage, Trump was starting to fall apart. It was when it was Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Marco and Carson that Trump started to look really bad. He actually somewhat held it together and looked a little more presidential in the last debate (Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Marco), but he was not Trump. You could tell he was suppressing his normal behavior.

I know Wikipedia is mocked, but here is a great record of the debates and who was in them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_presidential_debates_and_forums,_2016#February_25.2C_2016_.E2.80.93_Houston.2C_Texas

Cruz once again, could not find a tux that fit. Why does he always look like he needs a new jacket?

TRUE and FOX commented yesterday that their audio was not working right. It happened in a split second. Every candidate had equal representation plus they began serving the food as Cruz spoke.

Right—at least one Trump supporter is honest. They tried to go bac k to just the podium mike and everything went silent. Fox owes Cruz an apology. Instead they just acted like it was Cruz’s fault that the establishment ignored him. lol

I listened to both. Trump just bragged about all his buildings. He does think a lot of himself. It was boring.

Thank you NY'ers for re-demonstrating NY values.

Loud, Obnoxious, and Rude.

You completely missed the point of his stories in your hatred for the man. He pointed out the difference between capitalism and Marxism. Something that has not been explained in 30 years. Went completely over your head and was a great speech except for the NY values part.

You’re glad Cruz was not given his right to freedom of speech. it was the floor mike the other on quit working—Trump knows where controls are in his hotel who else would be permitted to mill around in there.

He no longer owns the hotel, he only built it and sold it. Nice try though with your Cruz conspiracy crap. Did he ever explain why he sent a half a million to Carley? Should be a simple explanation.
