[However, the only way Trump can win is with the vast majority of Cruz supporters. This is an easier bridge to cross, but still not easy with the hateful rhetoric.]

Nope. Throughout most of this primary, Cruz was my first choice, but I was open to supporting Trump in the general. However, Trump’s divisive rhetoric, demogoguery, and lies have made me distrust him so much and dislike him even more. I really don’t think that I can ever vote for someone as dishonest and self-serving as Trump.. It seems more and more as if Trump is trying to divide the GOP electorate and destroy the party’s chances in November.

Sorry. If I spent my time answering every single thing Cruz is accused of, there would not be time enough in the day. And some criticisms are legitimate. And so are SOME of the ones against Trump. But you and most other Trump supporters have made up your mind.

Over and over I have investigated allegations against Cruz with an open mind. Over and over I have found that the attacks are either completely unfounded or are exaggerated beyond recognition.

I have openly said on this forum that I would switch from supporting Cruz over Trump if anyone could PROVE he supported the photos of Trump’s wife being used to embarrass him and her. Trump claimed it. His supporters claimed it. Some here said proof would be forthcoming. It never came.

I also have openly said on this forum that I would switch from supporting Cruz over Trump if anyone could PROVE he had recent affairs or affairs his wife did not already know about before the campaign. It is possible Cruz had affairs. It is certain Trump had them. But we all knew that before the campaign. The issue here is more than morality and judgment. It is one of being a blackmail risk. But the evidence is still absent.

I have criticisms of Cruz and things I disagree about. Same thing applies to Trump. Both are promising to govern conservatively. I believe both will. I know Clinton and Sanders will not. Trump and Cruz are our only good options. And I choose to support whichever of these two gets the nomination.

Trump supporters have been saying since before Iowa that Cruz is finished. They have maligned him continuously. The harsh criticism of GOPe was justified. The harsh criticism of Bush, because of his liberal positions, is justified. The same goes for Rubio and his gang of 8 betrayal of tea party conservatives who got him elected. But the Cruz hatred does not fit. He has been a rock solid conservative for his entire career. He kept his promises, all of them, that he made to the conservatives who got him elected to fill Hutchison’s seat rather than GOPe Dewhurst. The hatred of the left has been directed at Cruz for his whole time as a senator. But it never reached the level of vitriol that has come from supposed conservatives on this forum.

In fact, I have never seen worse vitriol than what is being directed at Cruz, not even toward Obama and Clinton.

I attribute this primarily to two things. One, many posting these things are phony leftists trying to pull a leftwing operation chaos on conservatives. Two, many are easily manipulated Trump supporters who are looking for a scapegoat to explain why Trump did not easily win.

The reason Trump did not win the nomination already is simple. He has been off message with the name calling and insults. Yes, Cruz is also guilty. It has not helped either one. If Trump had just said he disagrees with Cruz on certain issues and argued that he has much better administrative experience than the junior senator, he could have wrapped up the nomination. I think Trump got bad advice on how to handle Cruz. He still could change his tactic before California, and probably get to 1237. Now and in the general he needs to stick to a positive message. The media will focus in on the negative. He needs to minimize it.

So I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on Cruz. The good news is that, in a few weeks, who the nominee is will be settled. Hopefully, there will be consensus at that point on stopping the Democrats.

I wish the best for Trump, his family, and his supporters. While I still, at this point, strongly support Cruz, it is NOT because I dislike Trump or do not support him. My preferences remains as follows:

1. Trump-Cruz
2. Cruz- any strongly conservative VP
3. Trump- any strongly conservative VP
4. Anyone other than the Democrat nominee

If Trump can get to 1237 before the convention, number 3 will move to number 2. If he falls short, and offers Cruz the VP spot, and Cruz turns him down, number 3 will move to number 2, also.

I can live with Trump or Cruz. I still prefer both.

“His [Cruz] supporters are fine with being governed by someone who will try to impose his religious beliefs on us all, and make decisions that affect us, according to those beliefs.”

That puts you squarely in the far-left camp.

Be specific. Do you think Americans should have to accommodate homosexual couples by issuing marriage licenses to them? By providing flowers, wedding cakes, photography, videography, venues, and catering for their weddings? Do you think those who refuse should be fined? Thrown in jail? Executed?

Do you think public restrooms, those of private business, and those of public school should, under penalty of law, should be required to allow transgendered people to use the ones designated opposite of their biological sex? Do you even believe in biological sex?

How about abortion? Do you think there should be no restriction on abortion? Do you think tax payers who disagree should still be forced to pay for it? Do you think it is none of our business if babies are killed to liquidate their body parts for money?

Do you think it is okay for homosexual couples to adopt children or be foster parents? Do you think it is okay if they engage in sexual relations with the ones they adopt? Do you think it is okay if they torture these children and make sex tapes and snuff films with them?

Are these the “religious” views you think Cruz and conservatives are going to force on everyone?

Christians founded this nation on the basis of freedom of religion. Evangelical Christians, mostly socially conservative ones, make up a significant portion of the population. And we are very underrepresented in government. No one in the white house since Reagan. No one on the Supreme Court for many years. Very few legislators. But people like you think Evangelical Christians are trying to take over the world for Jesus and impose a theocracy. It is pure insanity.

What Evangelical Christians want is to be able to practice our faith freely. We do not want or believe it is even possible to force others to become Christians. We do want free speech and the possibility to make a case for others to join us in our beliefs.

I happen to also be fiscally conservative. But, in spite of that, I really do not care if our economy completely collapses if it means I have to settle for socially liberal, fiscally conservative candidates in office.

You and those who reject these views can continue to do so if you like. But as true as the law of gravity is, the laws of justice will result in Divine punishment of this nation. It is inevitable, irreversible, and unstoppable.

You can rail against us, try to sideline us, fine us, imprison us, and kill us. But God is real. And He is going to repay every single one of these things with severe, fiery destruction shortly.

I understand how you feel. My advice is to keep an open mind. See how things shape up after California and at the convention. I have a feeling that too many people are unwilling to follow through with this game of chicken when it comes to handing over the White House AND the Supreme Court, permanently, to the far left. I think rational minds will prevail and a truce will be called.

Do you think that the rules of each STATE’S Republican Party were only established for this year’s primaries? States have been alternating among open primary states, closed primary states, caucus states and hybrid states for generations.
The state party rules weren’t made up in 2015 or 2016. The reason national parties like a variety of formats is that it tests the ultimate winner’s strength with various constituencies: open primaries-crossover voters; closed primaries-the rank and file of the party; caucuses-the most loyal and dedicated party members; hybrid-a little of all of the above.

Now take your Southern Charm and stick it where the sun don't shine you.

Now now your real side is showing just like your idol, the Reality TV host that is running as a conservative but is really a con man liberal charlatan.

Now take your prozac and just calm down. Keep repeating, "tRump is a liar can con man" over and over until you feel joy in your heart again.

Do not believe he is "jumping into bed" as you put it with the establishment. Do you have proof of this?

There is proof out there that tRump donated to Hillary and other liberals that want to take our weapons and do away with the second amendment?

There is proof out there that tRump payed to play by buying votes so that he could build his empire. This is a felony in most States.

There is proof out there that tRump is an adulteress and has a very low set of morals.

There is proof out there that tRump said he wants to sleep with his daughter

Sorry I only read the first sentence and then my eyes glazed over and I lost interest.

I’ve missed whatever you wrote, and you clearly invested a lot of time into something meaningful to you, but not me. Nothing about Evangelicals interests me, especially if it means being lectured to or reprimanded.

Keep that in mind for future replies. People only read about 3-4 sentences.....! Politics & religion don’t mix. Keep it short. Edit edit edit!

Let me get this straight.

A guy who can’t win a majority in any state (including his own) uses the rules that have been made by the same jerks we’re trying to unseat - and this is how he is going to win over the people and win an election?

What planet do you people live on?

Drop this asinine line of blabber.

Not everyone has the opportunity to get involved, and you know it.

These rules were made by the Rove’s of the party, ya remember him right, the guy who gives us losers to vote for?

So these rules, the ones that your genius uses to his advantage, cuz he’s an outsider and so adept at his poison pill tricks, is going to use these and win?

Win what? People are not flocking to him, sorry you refuse to see this reality, it is what is.

In my circle, I know of NO ONE who is for Cruz. Not a one.

But hey, if people would just get past the secret layers involved with the system, when they have to time to do that between work and family and hey, LIFE...then maybe they can learn to game the system that works ONLY for insiders..
like you little fraud Cruz - the ultimate insider.

Cruz = amnesty
Hello Club for Growth and the millions they pour into your boy toy.

Sad, just sad. You and your boring talking points of ‘if people don’t get involved, blah blah blah’ is tiresome.

Jeb-You're-Next was fond of saying...“Trump will NOT be the nominee” .....

After Jeb got clobbered, he passed on his strategy.

Now Cruz keeps saying "Trump will not be the nominee."

BTW, Cruz got clobbered a long time ago....he just hasn't hit the floor, yet.

Obviously the listed Rating agencies use flawed methodology to rate what is conservative.

They ignore where Cruz has promoted his wife’s CFR Globalist agenda for the Creation of the North American Union. From his helping Bush draft NAFTA, Pushing TPP with Ryan, Voting for TPA and Corker, Blocking our ability to police China’s currency manipulation, handing out Gift baskets to illegals at the border, etc.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXcYCwaBKnQ&app=desktop

Logic says a Globalist is not an American Conservative. Cruz is a proven Globalist, Therefore he cannot be a conservative for America.

Looking in from the outside, it surely appears to me that Cruz is running the quintessential insider’s campaign - winning the nomination by losing the primaries.

Where have we heard that phrase before?!?

While I am up in the air regarding Cruz’ viability in the fall, Cruz is far, far more conservative than Hillary.

The only reason Hillary is to the right of Bernie is because it pays better.
