Poll: 62% Say Republican with Most Votes Should Be Nominee
NBC ^ | 4/17/16 | Mark Murray

More than six in 10 Republican voters believe that, if no GOP presidential candidate wins a majority of delegates before the convention, the one with the most votes should be the party's nominee, according to a new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

That's compared with 33 percent of Republicans who say the nominee instead should be the candidate whom convention delegates think would be the party's best standard-bearer.

62% of Republicans would have preferred Al Gore as President?

The article is talking about choosing a party's nominee, not the President.

The article is talking about choosing a party's nominee, not the President.

It is the REPUBLICAN party, not the DEMOCRAT Party. Direct elections (he with the most votes wins) for president, or even for the nominee for president was never envisioned by the founders.

The electoral college was designed by the founders to prevent a "populist" from ever getting into the office of Chief Executive.

The Republican party makes the rules for the nominee for president. If you want to change the rules, then get involved in local Republican Party business. These rules are made by people who were elected at the local levels. If Trump can't win by playing by the rules, then he does not deserve the nomination.

Trump has no ground game and expects to win by tossing out hail mary passes and complaining about the officiating.

He's supposedly ahead, but he is crying like he's down by 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter.

Seriously, you really care about ‘original intent’? How about the founders intent when they required ‘natural born’ US citizenship to be eligible to hold the office of President... IF Cruz is eligible to hold the office of president then so are Obama and lying Ryan's Syrian refugees.

The plurality rules? Is that really where conservatives want to go? Because this argument is being put forward every day by Liberals who want to change the US voting system to eliminate the Electoral College as the ultimate vote system to elect the President.

Why are Liberals and some low-information votes so hot for a system where a plurality can dominate our political processes at all levels? Because it favors them, Dummy.

Take away the Electoral College and the Democrats who control most of the larger population states will win every time.

The Founding Fathers were worried that larger states would control the country without taking any cognizance of the interests of rest of the smaller states. That’s why they set up a system which is a Republic with some balance in the system between the large states and the smaller ones. They knew that a pure Democracy would lead to the tyranny of the majority.

How would you like it if every Presidential election was determined by a popular vote of just the voters of NY, Kalifornia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, and a very few other states. Talk about rigged. As it is, the Dems already have an advantage in the Electoral College because of their continued control of the so-called Blue states.

But they can’t (yet)simply ignore the smaller states with smaller populations, but those states have to be won by Republicans or Conservatives or Trumpsters if anyone but the Dems is ever going to be elected.

The liberals are who are supporting Trump.

Who do you think the MSM are?

Do you think Rupert Murdoch is a conservative?

The MSM is not supporting Trump. if you think so your inverted with reality. They try to bring him down every chance they get. The lie on him. Ever see a crowd shot of a Trump rally on MSM? Nope ever hear how violent he is? etc
But they LOVE Cruz, always pumping him up.

If Trump was as you think he is why do all the major power players in the world work to stop Trump but not the “true conservative”?

We have all watched the MSM create and wildly support Trump over the last 10 months.

Every election story, regardless of which candidate was the supposed subject, was turned into a Trump showcase.

There will be vastly more people happy with the outcome, than unhappy, if Cruz wins.

You can’t win them all though; there will always be childish sore losers, no matter who wins.

Every court that has taken up the issue has stated that Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen.

Your childish analogies typify someone that knows they have lost the argument.

I do find it amusing that Trump has hired a Communist Bloc Thug to run his campaign though.

Here is delusion for you:
Christie required a NJ county GOP to promote Trump or face "consequences"

[EXCLUSIVE] SON OF BRIDGEGATE. Christie required a NJ county GOP to promote Trump or face "consequences"

This Facebook post by Camden County, NJ Republican Municipal Chair Tom Crone indicates that NJ Governor Chris Christie required that Donald Trump be promoted above other candidates on the ballot, and that there would be “political consequences” for not going along with Christie’s demands:

Tom Crone

12 hrs · Erial, NJ, United States ·

Camden County GOP chair Tom Booth had a conference call with municipal chairs earlier this month informing them that after receiving word from Governor Christie he would be endorsing Donald Trump and awarding the county line to him.

No discussion was had and no vote was taken. The call was not to seek input but to declare. Chairman Booth made it clear that jobs and appointments were more important than qualifications or integrity of candidates to be endorsed and that it was clear there would be political consequences if he did not go along with the Governor’s demands.

The electoral college was designed by the founders to prevent a "populist" from ever getting into the office of Chief Executive.

The electoral college was designed to give the less populous states more of an equal say in the presidential election. Presidents are elected state by state, not nationally. The founders did not advocate for political parties, so they wouldn't have discussed hypothetical party primaries or delegates.

Christ had a bit to say about those that sit in Moses' seat (the law giver) Matthew 23: The Cruzs campaign reminds me of Judges 9:8-15

I now get what Cruz means when he claims he is for 'smaller government'.

But to claim to follow the 'original intent' of our Constitution is a LIE!

Cruz has always been for constitutional government, which by its nature is minimal Federal governance.

You want government by opinion, which by its nature is divided and full of strife.

I want the freaking liars to keep their filthy hands OFF our Constitution... I know who blesses and protects this nation... And throwing mud in HIS eye sure is not the ways and means to keep this nation safe. Cruz is a tiny man trying to con US that he is a 'natural born' US citizen... coming in the 'face of God'. God is the giver of 'life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness', not out of the belly of Harvard Law School... Has NOT one Harvard Law Schooled grad been enough to wake people up? Apparently not.

Moses was the Law Reader, not the giver. Yehova is the giver of the law.

Yeshua said “what he (Moses) said, do; but do not follow the Pharisees, for the say, and do not.”
