Paladino: Trump ‘Absolutely’ Should Launch Third Party Bid If Denied Nomination

Businessman and Republican activist Carl Paladino in a radio interview Monday said Donald Trump “absolutely” should launch an independent bid for president if he is denied the Republican nomination at the July convention in Cleveland.

“Absolutely,” Paladino said in an interview with WCNY’s The Capitol Pressroom. “If cheated, you fight back. That would be the end of the Republican Party, by the way.”

Paladino, a Buffalo real-estate developer and prominent Trump supporter in New York, was the GOP nominee for governor in 2010. In the interview, Paladino blasted what so far has been a whisper campaign to potentially nominate House Speaker Paul Ryan at July convention should the remaining Republican candidates not hit the required number of delegates to clinch the nomination.

by choosing temperament and demeanor over the ability to lead and accomplish, you illustrate a shallow mind

>It’s been a week since the CO GOP tweeted Never Trump. How is that “investigation” they promised coming along? Not a word about it as far as I can tell.

I’m pretty sure it was a “FU” Trump statement with deniability done by the head of the party there. The GOPe isn’t subtle.

“Might as well. He can’t split the Republican base any more than he already has.”

Trump did not split the Republican base...THE REPUBLICAN PARTY did that all by themselves. The “serfs” simply woke up and rebelled.

“The GOPE will choke on their POS nominee as Trump supporters stay home.”

The Republican party absolutely cannot be “fixed” period! It has terminal political cancer that cannot be eradicated due to absolute control by “big money” and that will ensure no treatment is possible.

You may remove the cancerous tumor but the disease is still there.

The Donald will NOT spend a penny of his own money.

LOL! I used to support and donate to Cruz - I still can't get them to stop pestering me for more money (to be matched by some interested parties if it happens now! - so much for not being indebted to big money folks) and when I switched to trump and started donating to him I haven't had a single plea for more money.

Funny how many "experts" don't have a freaking clue - I guarantee that if Cruz isn't dunning you for donations, then it's because you haven't put your money where your mouth is and donated to him in the first place....

Trump won’t need to run as an independent.

If he’s not that nominee, many will simply write him in.

I’m one of those voters, and I know that could potential put the dem nominee in office.

If the GOP denies the will of the voters, we might as well get this all over with sooner rather than later. I’m not gonna be in fighting condition forever.

That pledge was a joke by the eGOP since the eGOP has not upheld it that pledge by trying to keep Trump from winning.

The eGOP is finished. They won’t win dog catcher this election.

My opinion doesn’t come from my loyalty to Donald Trump. If Mr Trump had come to Texas masquerading as a Texan and not being honest with the voters of Texas I would feel the same way about him. I just don’t see another lying Harvard lawyer being the answer to America’s problems. It’s obvious that his whole life has been planned around politics. I’ll pass.

If the GOP denies the will of the voters

You think what is happening in the primaries and caucuses as the GOP denying the will of the people?

There is a big difference between the GOPe and the GOP.

The GOPe is a collection of about 200 people who are progressive-liberal Republicans in office and others who are in the media and serve as political consultants.

The GOP, on the other hand, is that vastly larger group of the Republican grassroots who do the grunt work for the party and are frequently frustrated by the GOPe.

This larger part of the GOP are the ones who are voting freely for the candidate of their choice, much to the complaint of the likes of Karl Rove and his ilk.

The GOPe can't stand the fact that they have no control over the people in the caucuses and the primaries.

But verbal persuasion is what takes place. The GOPe tries to appear conservative by using the right words to fool people and it has worked to some extent.

But what does Trump do? He doesn't even bother to try and persuade people through his knowledge of the facts. Nope. He uses other tactics.

Trump did poorly in CO because he had his people employ tactics that not even the GOPe has ever employed to get their man in office.

He had his people threaten the head of the GOP in CO with death.

And that is why every delegate went to Ted.

His demeanor and termperment are not those of a leader, they are the qualities of a school-yard bully. I’m sure may voters like this style, but I do not see this as emblematic of the person who best portrays conservative American values. I’ll be almost as disgusted that he will live in the White House as I am that the current occupant resides there!
I envision a Hillary wipe-out and likely a loss of the Senate with Trump at the head of the ticket.... hope I’m wrong and likely am as my political prognostications are not very accurate... I never would have imagined Obama winning twice !!

It would not matter if he does run as a 3rd party candidate. Anybody else on the Republican ticket and Hillary will be the winner.
