Trump: If I win, I might oust RNC chairman
CNN ^ | April 18, 2016 | Daniella Diaz

Posted on 04/18/2016 9:49:11 AM PDT by McGruff

If Donald Trump clinches the 1,237 delegates required to win the Republican nomination, he said he's not sure he'll keep Reince Priebus as chairman of the Republican National Committee.

"I don't know. I haven't made the determination," the Republican front-runner told The Washington Post in an interview posted Sunday.

The comments come as Trump spent the last few days attacking the Republican Party's nominating rules -- calling the process "rigged" against him -- which has caused top members to fight before their meeting in Florida later this week.

“On what grounds?”

Do you seriously think that Reince is guilty of any fewer than two-score felonies?

I didn’t know that the president had the power to fire the party chairman.

This is not about what "the president" can do. It's what Trump desires to do.

Any rule regarding who elects the party chair is unfair, and is not democratic. Trump will do the right thing. He will consult with his top advisor (himself), and then hire the best guys to replace Rinse, and make the best deal to do so.

Whoever the President is, Trump, Cruz, or Hillary, I think Rince said he’s done after this term.

He’s already held the job longer than normal, 3 two-year terms.

Amazing to me how many “real men” seem to be living vicariously through Trump.

I thought the same thing. The President is considered the head of his party, but to what extant is this substantive? Could Obama fire Debbie Wasserman Schultz?

Exactly. For example, Ronald Reagan installed his daughter Maureen as the RNC chairwoman. Nixon famously recalled George Bush from the UN ambassadorship in order to be RNC Chairman durin Watergate.

Obama could not directly fire DWS. However, the members of the DNC could, and probably would if he asked them to do so. I don’t think most members of the RNC would pee on Trump if he was on fire, though

Old Reince better start polishing his resume.

The RNC has already made it clear that Trump will not be allowed to install his own people if he wins the nomination. Now if he wins the presidency he might have more leverage to do that, but Reince was not running to be the RNC chief next year anyway.

Counting on it!

And if he doesn’t win, the most likely Hillary will and the owners of the GOP will kick Reince to the curb anyways for losing what should have been the easiest election in a century.

So either way, Priebus is toast.

He doesn't, but... The Trumpanzees will certainly enjoy this bit of Authoritarian nonsense from their Prophet.

2012 was the easiest election in history and Reince blew that.

Every President for the past several decades has been the veto vote for the appointment of the party chairman.

Way more authoritarian than say, thwarting the will of the people with non voting and delegate swiping? Only an ignorant Cruz occultist like yourself could come up with that one.

Party chairmen are not appointed. They are elected by the rest of the national committee. Once elected they cannot be fired on a whim of the president's.

“For example?”

Well, now you’re just being tendentious. What is your implication, that if I am not conversant with the particulars said crimes must not exist? That’s just silly.
