Climate change could seriously redistribute resources and reallocate wealth - but not in a fair way. In a reverse of the famous Robin Hood folklore, it could rob from the poor to give to the rich, according to researchers. Yet even the rich may not feel any richer.
Eli Fenichel, assistant professor of bioeconomics and ecosystem management at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies in the US, says: "People are mostly focused on the physical reallocation of these assets, but I don't think we've really started thinking enough about how climate change can reallocate wealth and influence the prices of those assets. We think these price impacts can be really, really important."
The researchers say cautiously that climate change - driven by greenhouse gas emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels in the last century or so - "can reallocate natural capital, change the value of all forms of capital, and lead to mass redistribution of wealth."
"We tend to think of climate change as just a problem of physics and biology," says co-author Malin Plinsky, an ecologist at Rutgers University, USA. "But people react to climate change as well, and at the moment we don't have a good understanding of the impacts of human behaviour on natural resources affected by climate change."

If you took all the money from the rich and gave it to the poor, within a few years, the rich will be rich again, and the poor will still be poor.
One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole, said Edenhofer, who co-chaired the U.N.s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015. We redistribute de facto the worlds wealth by climate policy, said Edenhofer.
Last year, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.s Framework Convention on Climate Change, made a similar statement:
This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution, she said in anticipation of last years Paris climate summit.
Perhaps Naomi Klein summed up best what the warming the fuss is all about in her book This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate.
What if global warming isnt only a crisis? Klein asks in a preview of a documentary inspired by her book. What if its the best chance were ever going to get to build a better world?
In her mind, the world has to change, or be changed because an economic system meaning free-market capitalism has caused environmental wreckage.
Does under by 4 months count? LOL
We will let you slide, but they stopped showing those movies and telling those stories in the 70’s.
People like the author are a special kind of stupid-hasn’t he even so much as read about the Medieval warming period, the little ice age/Maunder minimum, etc? How about less ice and warmer temperatures mean more arable land and a longer growing season, which means more food, more cultural and mechanical advances, etc...
And all that happened before industrialization, too...
Nuke the poor!
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State. -— Joseph Goebbels
Nuke the poor!
[[ it could rob from the poor to give to the rich,]]
It ‘could’ rob them? Folks, it already IS robbing us- everything cost much more today because of ‘climate change regulations’ imposed on businesses and passed along onto us- food, clothing, transportation, vehicles, whatever- almost everything is already impacted by oppressive regulations- coal mines are shutting down all over the US because of impossible regulations in the name of climate change- on and on it goes-
Don’t be fooled- we are already paying a heavy price for climate change regulations, and it’;s only just goign to get worse-
HG, you owe me a keyboard. And a beer.
Get the whales to eat the poor, then nuke the WHALES!
