Elections Board Results (NYS) | April 20, 2016 | Self-

Wyoming County is picturesque rolling hills country dotted with apple orchards and maple groves located in the western part of the state. Both the state of Wyoming and Wyoming County are predominantly white 92% with similar per capita income.

Where they differ significantly is in their ability to vote within a Republican Primary Election. Although the State of Wyoming has a population 10 times the size of Wyoming County, only a fraction of a percentage of Wyoming republicans are chosen to vote for the delegates that pick the presidential nominee. Wyoming County, NY had a 40% voter turnout in 2016. Wyoming state had a .03% committeemen turnout in 2016. This is roughly one third the turnout from 2012. Something must have changed drastically since the last election.

Wyoming County is one of the more predominately Republican counties in New York State. The registered republicans outnumber democrats 2:1. It's the second most republican county in New York. In 2004, Bush carried Wyoming County by a 31% margin over Kerry. In 2008, McCain won the county by a 26% margin over Obama. In the 2006 Senatorial election, Wyoming County chose conservative, John Spencer by a 4% margin over Clinton. Here are the 2016 results for Wyoming.

From the article, this jumps off the page:

“Unlike caucuses in other states, the precinct caucus Tuesday night only was a chance for voters to elect representatives from their precincts to attend the county Republican convention on March 12....”

So they basically go to a party and elect someone to go for them not knowing how they will vote. Seriously?

“Voters also could bring up party business or proposed changes to the bylaws – such as they would rather have a primary election, for example.”

Gee, what a novel idea in the 21st Century —An election where I vote!!

“Most caucus-goers seemed to have an idea in mind of their preferred candidate.”

Why not just the poor pesky sucker vote! Why does he have to choose Mr. Undecided who will choose Ms. Snotnose who will choose Candidate Jackazz of Candidate Low-Energy, who is not whom you prefered??

“Wyoming is a complicated process,” she said. “Our chairman made it very clear.”

Why did Dick Cheney, Jeb Bush, etc. make this soooo complicated?

“Alan Kirkbride said he knew many of those who attended had pictured the caucus as closer to a primary election. “I think people really hoped they could express a preference,” he said.”

Well DUUUUH! It’s like they are children who must rely on their elders’ opinions. Didn’t you read the article? People like to vote, they don’t need YOU or some other BOT to voice their vote.

“She, too, said she felt her voice was heard “as much as it can be,” adding that the turnout represented an energy Americans have about this election.“We have America on its knees, and it’s time to turn it around,” she said.”

“However, he said he was WORRIED THAT THE DELEGATES HIS PRECINCT SELECTED MAY NOT ULTIMATELY REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE PEOPLE at the caucus when they get to the county convention.”

“We don’t know who our delegates are voting for,” he said.”

I rest my case. Wyoming voters were ripped off by the party. Thanks for posting the article here.

You need to go back and read the comments of the precinct members that attended the caucus.

They are voicing their concerns to the newsreporter that they thought they were going to have a vote. Read the last comment

The article is not really favorable to this unrepresentative form of voting.

“Wyoming is a complicated process,” she said. “Our chairman made it very clear.”

“Alan Kirkbride said he knew many of those who attended had pictured the caucus as closer to a primary election. “I think people really hoped they could express a preference,” he said.”

Voter are children who must rely on their elders’ opinions.

“He said he was WORRIED THAT THE DELEGATES HIS PRECINCT SELECTED MAY NOT ULTIMATELY REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE PEOPLE at the caucus when they get to the county convention.”

“We don’t know who our delegates are voting for,” he said.”

No. If you could read, you’d know.

You’ve been here only a month and done nothing but troll-post.

At this juncture, the true representation of "pathetic" is Cruz debasing himself by whoring himself to the GOPe. Cruz is numerically incapable of getting to 1237. He is finished. The Lost Cause is the Lost Cause. If Cruz had any integrity or dignity, he'd be reaching out to Trump and seeking a way to work with the new movement and take a constructive role in defeating Hildebeast come November.

Again, so that you don’t appear foolish. YOU should have read the article that you posted prior to sending it because it proves my point 100%. People deserve a right to vote.

Everything below is a direct quote from your Cheyenne article D-fendr.

Defend it..................

“Wyoming is a complicated process,” she said. “Our chairman made it very clear.”

“Alan Kirkbride said he knew many of those who attended had pictured the caucus as closer to a primary election. “I think people really hoped they could express a preference,” he said.”

“He said he was WORRIED THAT THE DELEGATES HIS PRECINCT SELECTED MAY NOT ULTIMATELY REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE PEOPLE at the caucus when they get to the county convention.”

Why in the world are you comparing Wyoming County in New York state to Wyoming the state? They have absolutely nothing to do with each other. A northeastern state and a western state never have similar voting patterns.

That's like comparing Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Bethlehem in the Middle East.

only a fraction of a percentage of Wyoming republicans are chosen to vote for the delegatesHow were they chosen?

“Republican” does not mean “conservative.” That’s why Giuliani didn’t win the nomination.

Rules. Don’t bother trying to read it, it is so complicated.

It’s a tough state; you’d likely die in Wyoming.

Just happy & lovin’ it when republican folks get to vote whether it be in Wyoming, NY or Wyoming-Wyoming!

I call the Wyoming system - Father knows best! (Daddy Cruz)(Daddy Bush)(Daddy Cheney)(Daddy Romney) <-take your pick.

A d-fender of the voter-less system and Cruz supporter sent an article from the Cheyenne paper. He was trying to prove that WY had a big election. However, the article revealed that they really hadn’t had a chance to vote. Many were unhappy - forlorn- and that is what they told the newsreporter. Have you read their actual comments?

“Unlike caucuses in other states, the precinct caucus Tuesday night only was a chance for voters to elect representatives from their precincts to attend the county Republican convention on March 12....”

“Voters also could bring up party business or proposed changes to the bylaws – such as they would rather have a primary election,...”

“Most caucus-goers seemed to have an idea in mind of their preferred candidate.” (yet no voting allowed)

“Wyoming is a complicated process,” she said. “Our chairman made it very clear.” (intentionally complicated)

“Kirkbride said he knew many of those who attended had pictured the caucus as closer to a primary election. “I think people really hoped they could express a preference,” he said.”

“However, he said he was WORRIED THAT THE DELEGATES HIS PRECINCT SELECTED MAY NOT ULTIMATELY REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE PEOPLE at the CAUCUS when they get to the county convention.”

“WE DONT KNOW WHO OUR DELEGATES OUR VOTING FOR,” he said.”

Jedi, What’s wrong with just letting people vote. It’s the 21st century and these are all grown-ups. That don’t need a Daddy to vote for them.
