Trump: Transgenders Should 'Use the Bathroom That They Feel Is Appropriate'

Republican Donald Trump says he'd be fine with Caitlyn Jenner using the bathroom of her choice at Trump Tower. (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."

"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.

"That is correct," Trump said.

Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.

"Leave it the way it is," he said.

"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.

"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

AD FEEDBACK

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."

Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.

"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

I consider it a repudiation of creation.

Your comment goes to the rank "humanists" who propose the idea of people redefining themselves as a matter of personal whim. That does not go to the Trump comment, which relates to how the State responds to an idiotic local ordinance.

I agree with you; and have never accepted humanist pretensions; or their ideological cousins in socialist movements, who believe that man can reinvent himself by changing his social environment. I just do not see this as an issue in the Presidential election.

Don’t forget that Trump said Pam Gellar was asking for it and shouldn’t have provoked the Muslims in Texas.

This is the real Donald Trump folks. I ignored the warning signs all last year hoping he was the man for 2016. But the contradictions and New York values became too much for me the last couple months.

Even back in the old days if you beat the hell out of a pervert you were charged, especially in big cities. Not so much in the South, where men can still be men and the cops that respond to the incident are men and would say the perv got what he deserved. Not long ago men were charged with crimes against nature and that law is still on the books in plenty of small towns all over America, especially in the South. The world has gone straight to hell and I fear it’s not coming back. To this day if a republican lawmaker is picked up trying to solicit a man he’s career is finished. If he’s a democrat he’ll get reelected and run for president.

Do I want to jump all over Trump for not giving a politically correct answer? Of course not.

What he gave was the quintessential politically correct answer. It is now discrimination to keep men from using the women's restroom? How much more PC can you get?

Exactly. This law is not only hugely popular but common sense.

But we see Trump siding with his NY values versus the people.

Pretending he is against abortion???

If you are not doing anything to stop it - you know by jailing people - then he is just pretending for the votes.

Yeah, that’s always been a problem, but probably not as much as gay men using the men’s. That’s were you get glory holes, wide stances and predation, right?

Do you think there might be some of the same problems here by letting men attracted to women use the women’s bathroom? I mean good grief, why create more problems? You do know that lesbians aren’t out in the public parks at 3 in the morning for guaranteed free anonymous sex, right? That’s the preview of gay men for a reason. There would be a lot of hetero men out there too if women were into it.

>>Ukraine is behind the transgenderism as a KGB plot? WTF?

Why was the demoralization of American culture (WHICH IS SELF-EVIDENT IN TRUMP'S "morality") a strategic objective for Yanukovych and Putin's fellow Oligarchic communist thugs?

It’s not namecalling. It’s calling things by their true names.

Since you’re a liberal, I’m not surprised that you don’t know the difference though.

Take a deep breath, relax and think this through. Most Trump supporters are attracted to his non-PC, no-nonsense business approach.

Think past the mandated social policies, and consider how businesses will react to customers avoiding their facilities if they feel uncomfortable using mixed-use restrooms.

What will they do? Spend months lobbying for legislative change, or call in a contractor to re-model the existing restrooms as stall only, along with common washroom areas?

Since you're former military, I assume you've been in Europe. We're fortunate to be able to travel somewhat extensively, and I can assure those that haven't been that every place I've been - whether the Louvre or a tiny restaurant - has private stalls + common washrooms.

In fact, the stalls are floor-to-ceiling, completely private & usually a little bigger - much more so than those currently found in either women's or men's rooms.

We live in a fluid economy; Trump understands that. The key is to allow businesses to adapt - quickly - to perceived/real threats to their business profitability.

Mark my words: contractors - who are mostly conservative - will be busy remodeling existing bathrooms and (secretly) thanking the libs for their increased business.

Pretending he is against abortion???

Cruz said he wouldn’t make abortion illegal, if elected president, though he is pro-life.

“Jenner is a man. I guess you are ok with Jenner going into womens bathrooms.”

Again, again, the topic was about transgenders.

Jenner dresses as a woman and would be taken for a woman if seen entering a bathroom.

Jenner makes me want to throw up wherever I see him, regardless.

“Go back to like it was” or whatever he said, would be the thing to do. This whole issue is sick.
