Joe Scarborough: Donald Trump Is A Centrist Democrat On Social Issues, "It's Not Been A Secret"
RCP ^ | 4/22/16 | Tim Hains

Posted on 04/22/2016 8:39:14 AM PDT by KansasGirl

Joe Scarborough reacts to the debate surrounding the revelation of "two Donald Trumps" -- a conservative primary Trump giving way to a centrist general election Trump.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: [Trump] is going back to what he has always been. We have said on this air nonstop. He is a Democrat. He is a centrist Democrat. Who gave money to Democrats for years. He has never been a conservative. That's not been a secret to anybody. And yet he has blown the doors off every Republican primary.

And when he goes into the general election, it is going to be harder for Democrats to say he has been a right wing religious fanatic who is going to keep you away from abortion, and keep you away from same-sex...

It doesn't make it right or wrong, it makes it harder for Democrats.

Manafort is old time strategist who believes in this “run to the center” stuff for the general. Personally, I hate this strategy and hope Trump stays on message.

I just read that someone says it’s possible that Trump is part of the LGBT community.

I don’t know if he is part of the LGBT community. That’s what some people are saying.

It would be a very big deal if Trump is part of the LGBT community.

But I don’t know. I see it on the web. Believe me.

Guess you're a "No Labels" guy. I am not, I am a very conservative constitutionalist that sees right through Trump's BS.

I am sure Trump will win the nomination and maybe even the Presidency, and then you are going to find out that he is political, very political and I think you and a lot of other FREEPers that support Trump are going to wish you were like his wives and have a prenup...

The most conservative Senator is Mike Lee and he is with Cruz.

So, you’re saying TRUMP is authentic, hidden nothing from you, plead on numerous occasions “Guilty, as charged”?

TRUMP is out there with his big old footprint quite willing to blab with you all day long on why you’re getting screwed in every conceivable way by stupid leaders pretending to be conservative on every conceivable issue.

Cartel Cruz is the talker TRUMP warns voters against, who will be able to get nothing done, and has gotten nothing done, but TPA, of course, and the Corker Bill for sure, and ducked out on consequences for invaders, preferring pathways to legalization, and definitely throwing the issue over to FBI, ICE, law enforcement should invader be “caught”.

Really muscular consequences.

Ted Cruz is a political needle threader and voters know it.

No thanks. We’re going with a MAN for a change. An old fashioned American MAN, who doesn’t thread needles when he speaks.

Cruz went after Trump for his liberal record. I see nothing at all wrong with that. That is the point of a primary.

It is so odd isn’t it?

No offense to anybody, truly, but this is precisely what happens when you allow emotion and passion to rule over reason. Anyone can fake being a conservative to get elected, but it’s the rare one that does what he says. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee....I can only think of a handful.

“But, what if he does? What then?”

Then neither party will have any interest in conservative social positions, and the cultural Marxist revolution will be complete.

If you had been paying attention from the beginning Trump has not run a campaign just to try and win the Republican Nomination.

Richard Nixon used to say you had to run right to win the GOP nomination and then move to the center to win a national election.

Trump’s strategy all along was running a national campaign from Day One, he staked out his positions and has not varied them at all. Read his books going back to his first and he has been fairly consistent and what he believes.

So Trump has no need to pivot to the center as he has been Center Right all along. That has been the key to his success in getting Independents, Blue Collar Democrats and others to vote Republican. It’s been a brilliant strategy and it has worked. So what you will but he has been pretty honest about his policies unlike most others.

A man that seems to walk things back a lot. A man who flip flops more than iHop griddle cook. Trump is no man of virtue. Just ask the husbands of all the wives Trump bragged about bedding...

He has donated to BOTH sides...As any smart businessman would do...To curry favor for his businesses...Yeah, unethical, but it works...

As the country goes, so does business...To help his businesses, he has chosen to help the country get off it’s ass...

it’s plain as day, yet everyone is geared to assign some political LABEL...

It doesn’t work that way with Trump...This is the first time in many years, if ever before, we’ve had a non-political figure in position to win the presidency.

The “professional politicians” are all scared to death that they will lose a lot of their “cushy” lifestyles paid for by YOU and me...

It should be refreshing to any true American.....

“Donald Trump only attacked Cruz after Cruz began attacking Trump...”

BS, Trump started it with attacks on Cruz when Trumps’ poll numbers were looking bad in Iowa, our memories are not that short.
