He is a centrist Democrat. Who gave money to Democrats for years. He has never been a conservative. That’s not been a secret to anybody.
It sure has been a secret here on this board.

You ask a reasonable question. But considering the irrational attacks that Cruz has been making against Trump, by cherry picking & distorting the significance of what he cherry picks—thus antagonizing a lot of people who were drawn to him by his previous reputation for integrity—I am not sure that he has not lost all objectivity on things relating to Donald Trump. The cheap personal attacks hurt his credibility, but he persists.
Since Cruz’s strong suit used to be on discussing the actual issues, the personal attacks clearly make less and less sense.

fwiw Phyllis Schafly’s daughter is the one trying to oust her mother because she is losing it. Old people change sometimes. My mother went from a staunch conservative to a flaming liberal when she was older.
He has already failed on 3 of my 4 lines. He is pro-abortion, pro higher taxes, and pro path to citizenship. I will still hold my nose and vote for him to beat Hillary until he goes anti 2nd then I too will stay home and wait for the unrest with loaded magazines.
He may wait until after general to do that unless he is really a Trojan horse planted by the Clinton’s and this is where is starts to throw the election for her like many of us feared.
All GOP Movement Conservatives and Neo Cons do is talk about supporting conservative principles. They never act on these principles.
Neo Con’s are much worse than just about anything. Neo Cons created 14 Trillion in debt - they spend more than centrist Democrats.
What's so irritating is the FReepers who are insisting that Trump is some kind of Conservative hero.
He's not.
If he gets the nomination it (general election) will be same old same old-either:
Moderate Democrat vs. Socialist
Or:
Moderate Democrat vs. Corrupt Marxist.
Arguably the Moderate Democrat is the only choice, when given the other two destructive options.
But what some FReepers won't admit- even to themselves- is that they've given up on Conservative ideas being able to win over the public anymore.
Their plan is: Give up- Let Conservative ideology go. Only try to fix trade issues and do something about immigration.
But they need to ask themselves: Would a moderate Democrat really do anything about immigration? Because phase 2 Trump may change on that issue as well.
Though I don't indulge in the “Who Hit John” any longer.

It's always one o'clock somewhere.
There is no way I want Rubio for anything, even if Donald were to tag up with him.
But we are nowhere near normal in this election cycle.
Forgive and forget, in some cases, is the best course of action.
Marco did become a member of the gang of eight.
Trump funded 5 of them.
But he is and would be a valuable asset. He can reach some in the middle class of all backgrounds. And some in the media love the guy.
You've been around a while.
Have you or anyone you know ever seen a better opportunity to start a 3rd national party in our country? Ever? With a 50 state, fully operational ground game already in place?
Rubio is the frosting on the cupcake...if you would.
The media attention it would get in this political climate would be non-stop. The grass roots coalitions would be ecstatic and highly motivated.
Think about it. That's all.
We won't have this chance again in our lifetime.
I am sure that there were some pretty nasty things said and thought of Jackson and Jefferson and other founders of the political parties back then.
But we still speak of them today.
Think of the heads that will explode inside of both establishment wings of the ruling class oligarchy if nothing else.
