Getting congress to stop giving it away. The waste is atrocious. The feds are into just everything so they can blackmail the states....and us (like Obamacare).
Get rid of the Education Dept. It's absolutely unnecessary....and let the banks handle the college loans.
To: GIdget2004
Sounds like he meant, in eight years he could put the US back into a position to get it paid off sometime before infinity.

I knew this from a few days ago from a foreign news source but as the nomination clearly becomes his, we will see alot more of this shift more to the left.
Pretty soon, we’ll have two candidates that will agree with each other by the time the first debate comes around this fall

Excuse me?
At some point Trump claimed he could get rid of the National Debt (not deficit but the debt) in 2 terms. He is now taking the statement back.
I suspect some people started running around scared that he actually would. If he can get it down to 70% of what it is now, that is better than anything any of our recent presidents have done.

The USA imports approximately $1.6Trillion per year. A 20% across the board import tariff eliminates the deficit tomorrow.

Those debates are going to be entertaining! The excuse is he’s moving more center for election votes now that the primary is cinched, but all I’ve heard before he flip flopped . . . err moved is that he’s going to beat Cankles like a rented mule (I wrote that for visual effect). Why does he have to pivot to do so if his message was so strong to begin with?

"If he can get it down to 70% of what it is now, that is better than anything any of our recent presidents have done."ALL the income tax revenue over an entire 8 year term wouldn't even do that.

A 20% import tax would never fly.

The only way the national debt is going anywhere is through default. There’s no conceivable way we can pay it down. Now if a nation like KSA holds that debt... that would be awesome.

A 20% import tax would never fly. It's that or financial collapse, a deep and wide depression followed by a Civil War II. You pick.

The problem with his stance on the bathroom issue, taxing the rich, wanting to change to GOP platform on abortion, and now flip flopping on his statement that he’d pay off the debt in 8 years is the drip, drip, drip of adopting the more leftist positions. When does it stop?
Ronald Reagan spoke of bright bold colors verses pale pastels.
And I believe it was Phyllis Schafley herself that said a choice, not an echo
