#NeverTrump Digs In

In the wake of the New York primary, there is a sense that some of the GOP elites are making their peace with the Trumpocalypse. To be sure, some of the party’s leaders are resisting Trump’s faux charm offensive, but there is also a palpable mood of defeatism among the Invertebrate.

Yet in hallway chatter here, there was a growing sense of resignation about Trump as the nominee

That mood is likely to spread after this week’s expected primary wins for Trump in the northeast. Some party leaders aren’t waiting. Reince Priebus is calling on anti-Trump activists to unite behind him if he is the nominee. Even Marco Rubio , who surely understands the reality of Trumpism as well as anyone in national politics, now suggests he would back him in a general election.

All of this comes amid growing evidence of Trump’s unelectability. Polls shows suggest he trails Hillary Clinton by double digits and analyses of the electoral college put the chances of a Clinton blowout somewhere between likely and “O my God.”

As Tim Carney notes : “Trump would be the least-respected, least-liked major party nominee since polling began.” As a result, anti-Trump groups rejected the call for rallying around a Trumpist GOP...

All the neo-con artists and their open borders toadies are digging in. The best outcome would be for them to go back to the democrat party from whence they came.

We had the same hysteria in 1980 when Reagan was solidifying his nomination. Nobody saw that landslide coming. In fact, we were constantly told it would go the other way.

Shrillary Clinton is a very weak candidate. She is barely able to beat a disheveled socialist from Vermont and enthusiasm for her candidacy is not great.

People will cross over to vote for Trump in the general in droves, in particular, blue collar Democrats. We haven't seen much crossover in the primaries because either the primaries have been closed or the tight race between Clinton/Bernie have kept Democrats voting in their own primaries. But there will be a FLOOD of Democrats crossing over to vote for Trump in November. The fact that the GOP establishment can't stand Trump will be a big asset in November. Democrats won't feel like "traitors" by voting Republican, in fact, they may see voting for Trump as giving the establishment Republicans and Democrats a much deserved "poke in the eye."

Trump overcame huge obstacles to build his signature Trump Tower. He will do the same to build the new one at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington DC . JMHO!

I see no link to any such "analysis".

I also notice that this pussy Charlie Sykes does not allow any comments. I wonder why that is. These Cucks are gonna be having strokes tomorrow.

There is a lot not to like about Donald Trump.

In the past, when he talked about running for president, I laughed.

When he got into an argument with Rosie O’Donnell a few years ago, I wished there was a way they could both lose.

That said, he’s the first candidate I remember in a long time who’s even talked about controlling our southern border.

For that, I’m voting for him.

This is going to be the narrative from the elites at #nevertrump. Cruz and Kasich will try and fail to stop Trump. They will then attack Trump in the general and push Hillary. If Trump loses they will be #toldyouso.

Exactly!

Bernie supporters hate Hillery, Trump will get a number of them.

A real Leader would work to bring people together. Obama create a huge gulf between the races and between conservatives/liberals. Rational discourse between people has fallen apart.

Now the conservative movement is fractured with bitter nasty insults the typical response to any disagreement.

Polls will have to correct themselves the closer they get to the voting. Always do, they don’t want to look Stupidly bias, as usual.

John Kasich: "I should be President! I've won one state! Did you hear me? I've won ONE state!"

" More likely they wont vote. "

Yes a lot of them will, but having your candidate screwed by the system tends to piss people off.

The only candidate not controlled by the system is Trump, therefore enemy of my enemy logic comes into play.

Some of the Trumpers are getting hung up on the polls cited by some of the pundits quoted in Sykes' column. Any reference to polling is really irrelevant to the focus of the column.

For me, the main thing I am taking from the column is Charlie's conclusion:

So, should anti-Trump forces sit down, shut up, and vote Trump? Only if they want to contribute to the continued dilution of conservatism into a meaningless word that can act as a mask for leftist policy.

How funny!

The so-called conservatives in the GOP have done nothing to stop the advance of leftist policies in DC for the last 25 years.

That is the mask that has dropped.
