Cruz Campaign Vetting Carly for VP
Weekly Standard ^ | 04/25/2016 | Michael Warren

Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign is vetting Carly Fiorina as a potential running mate, THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned.

According to a spokeswoman for Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO and one-time presidential candidate is being vetted by Cruz's campaign.

"Normal stuff," said Sarah Isgur Flores, who served as deputy campaign manager during Fiorina's bid, when asked about the process. She added that Fiorina has met with members of the Cruz campaign and has given them financial disclosures and other documentation. Flores added that "no offers" have been made.

On ABC's This Week Sunday, reporter Jon Karl floated the idea that Cruz could announce a running mate before next week's critical Indiana primary and suggested Fiorina would be the "one person" to fill that role.

Fiorina endorsed Cruz in March, after her own campaign for president ended. She has made appearances on the behalf of the Texas senator and introduced him at a recent campaign stop in Maryland.

Republicans in Fiorina's home state of California will vote in their state's primary on June 7. Fiorina won the Republican Senate primary in California in 2010.

LOL - that may be true, but it just doesn’t have the same zing as the names Trump comes up with. So if Cruz makes Carly the VP, then I’m looking forward to hearing the name Trump uses ... my bets are on Snarly Carly, but he may come up with something even better.

“Dictator Don”? I don’t know, maybe Don the Con, or even
Liberal Don would be better branding I think.

These branding names mock by pushing the limits of embellishment, but work best when closer to truth than hyperbole. So “dictator” isn’t the best, as I think that crosses over that line a little too far.

Wow Cruz turns on Kasich in 1 day. Such loyalty. America beware this is a man who will turn on anyone. We already have one of those in the WH.

Justifying a Fiorina pick as giving Cruz pro-business optics makes about as much sense as a Kevorkian pick giving Cruz pro-healthcare optics.

Was Cruz anti-business from the get go? Who gave that impression?

Maybe Trump should issue a press release that he is vetting Oprah for VP...hat would put him over the top.

How in the world do you twist that inference from my statement?

RE: How in the world do you twist that inference from my statement?

You said Cruz chose her to give pro-business optics. I doubt that he needs that.

I didn't say it; This post said it. I was merely responding.

Trump said again today in rallies that he's going for the "knockout" first vote victory, and not gaming for later votes. Can you imagine what would happen if it went to a second ballot and Trump does just that? The RNC and leadership would have to figure out how to rein those Trump supporters in.

How many Trump supporters will find their way to Cleveland if there's any threat that the nomination could be stolen? It's pretty clear it would be a case of stealing the nomination. Three cheers to Mr. Trump! Go for the win by being the voters choice. Don't play their games.

I agree with you on that. I just couldn't resist jerking your chain a bit. It was meant as a joke and not a chastisement.

follow the money

there is NO reason the Cruz campaign would give money to the campaign of a rival

I believe this is or was the subject of an FEC investigation

I doubt if it is over and it will reemerge whether this was hush money to Carly’s campaign manager, who received most of it in salary and ...

Amanda Carpenter’s sister in law confirmed her affair - guess you missed that. Said the family blamed Ted as a predator and the husband was forgiving
Her twitter alone was damning. Did you know she has a daughter who looks like Ted? Probably not.
There were photos and videos of them regularly meeting at a hotel in DC. Appsrently they had an afternoon delight Tue-Thu schedule or they ate a lot of really regular long lunches together

The press never touched it. Waiting to use the story when it benefits Hillary

Katrina Pierson denied but you know what? I don’t believe her. You know why? TRUMP NEVER said a word in her defense even though he was all over defending Corey Lewandowski from false reporting. I think she had an embarrassing moment with her boss and Heidi got her fired for it
