Trump adopts Cruz playbook in delegate hunt
MSNBC ^ | April 26, 2016 | By Jane C. Timm

Donald Trump says the electoral delegate allocation is "rigged" and rival "Lyin' Ted" Cruz is trying to steal the election away by wooing supporters.

But in Pennsylvania, where 54 unbound delegates are elected directly by district and free to vote as they wish, Trump is employing the same hunting playbook Cruz has used for weeks. Hate the player, not the game?

Trump insists he can reach that key number - 1237 delegates - by winning the pledged delegates awarded in primaries, but his team is nonetheless on the ground working to sway the unbound delegates his rivals hope to use to derail him. In interviews with eleven of the 41 delegate candidates on the Trump slate, Pennsylvania Republicans running for those 54 spots describe a campaign strategy that's looking more and more like the Cruz game plan every day.

The difference is first ballot versus second ballot. First is smart. Second is desperation.

I voted in PA. A few minutes ago and the handout was telling me how to vote. And it was not for Trump delegates. I called out the person handing me the info and made reference to a corrupt system.

My brother and wife were disgusted when they went to vote at the CO precinct caucus and there were only delegates to vote for who would choose the state delegates. AND THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO KNOW WHO THE PEOPLE RUNNING AS DELEGATES WERE SUPPORTING!!! Vote for me. I won’t tell you who I will vote for, but TRUUUSSSST ME. He’s still furious. It’s a scam.

“And it was not for Trump delegates”

I stand corrected. What a shame. I can only imagine the games that will go on in Indiana.

I believe that giving out purposefully misleading voter information (ie. wrong delegate slate lists) is a class D felony.

Cruz was not limiting his seeking to unbound delegates, so it isn't the same at all.

Wrong.
Trump is doing this in states he actually WON.
Cruz was pulling this stunt in states that did not hold elections and states he did NOT win.

“It seems they have no goal other than to attack Trump no matter what he does.”

Just keep in mind...The MSM is schizophrenic and biased.

Actually, Trump should have been advised on doing this from the start of his campaign. Why wasn’t he?!!!

Because the man did not have the basic honor and honesty to come clean to his millions of supporters, many like you, to admit he had been woefully unprepared more than anything else and that he would solve it.

But it's probably too much to ask for Donald to ever admit a mistake, a tall order apparently for narcissists and megalomaniacs.

You do realize don’t you that your argument is EXACTLY the argument that Black Lives Matter / Sanders Supporters / Social Justice Warriors use to fight against white privilege while excusing black racism.

“When you do it, it’s wrong because you have more power. When we do it, it’s right because we are the underdogs.”

I am not anti-Trump, I am pro-Cruz. I am glad to see that Trump has decided to act like a competent leader and actually play the game as the rules are written. It does make his supporters look hypocritical though after they just got done crying about Cruz playing the game properly.

The "rigged" part is having TRUMP supporters running for delegate seats being illegally SHUT OUT in CO!... That's the "RIGGED" part!

... of course, they don't want to tell you that.

“Trump should have been advised on doing this from the start of his campaign. Why wasn’t he?!!!”

Trump and his supporters are not GOPe insiders and get no help or support from the GOPe. The GOPe will rig the process as much as they can to stop Trump.

Cruz is the candidate of the GOPe and the insiders are helping him. Not because they support him. They are only helping him to stop Trump.

Once Trump realized what the GOPe were doing he hired people to work the system.

I'm assuming that so long as the PA Trump voters vote for the Trump delegates on the ballot, those 54 "unbound" will be Trump-friendly delegates who will most likely support Trump on 1st and any subsequent ballots should they be necessary.

Am I correct?

Maybe somebody from PA can explain how this works. I'm so confused. I'm one of those naive people who think I only have to vote for the guy on the ballot that I want to see win.
