Cruz: Wisconsin win is primary's ‘turning point'
POLITICO ^ | April 5, 2016 | Katie Glueck

MILWAUKEE — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz reveled in his Wisconsin victory on Tuesday night, calling it a “turning point” in the GOP presidential race and suggesting it's proof he can win future primary contests and the general election.

“We have a choice,” Cruz told a cheering crowd here at the American Serb Hall in Milwaukee. “A real choice.”

“As a result of tonight, as a result of the people of Wisconsin defying the media, defying the pundits, I’m more and more convinced our campaign is going to earn the 1,237 delegates needed to win the Republican nomination,” Cruz said. “Either before Cleveland or at the convention in Cleveland, together we will win a majority of delegates, and together we will beat Hillary Clinton in November.”

Every campaign has politicians trying to turn it around when it looks bleak. I’m not going to fault nor mock Cruz for trying to rally his troops. There are other things I fault him for but not this.

Turning point as in death knell. It was when the full-court press was applied by every force known to Repub politics, and Donald still landed on his feet thereafter.

Cruz is a seriously damaged individual. Its obsessive to continue something to your own detriment. From here on out Cruz is simply going to engender anger by staying in the race. It makes no sense.

I noticed when Ted started his victory speech tonight he tried to put his arm around the oldest daughter. She shrugged him off and left the stage. That just keeps happening. Strange.

If I’m not mistaken, a color-coded map showing how the vote went in Wisconsin showed that Trump, pretty much cleaned house. Cruz got the nod because he won the densely populated areas/cities.

Cruz is looking idiotic and he’s not an idiot. He needs to ease off and out. The Establishment isn’t his friend and he is closer idiological to Trump.

Cruz is busily burning the last bridges of his aspirations. he should have seen the light and opted for a post-Trump run (even as Veep) if he wanted to ever sit behind the desk in the Oval office. His ego and sense of entitlement, after all that planning and resume building, did him in...

“Cruz is looking idiotic and he’s not an idiot.”

Doesn’t it even bother him that the exit polls show that 59% of voters would be “concerned or scared” if Cruz won? Doesn’t he get it?

Ted had a strong ground game in my neck of the woods, Philly suburbs.

There were Cruz signs put up all over the place over the weekend, I had 2 people knock at my door to talk about Ted, and on the way to the polling place, there were Cruz signs lining the yards.

I saw no Trump signs, and I’ve only seen one Trump bumper sticker, out near Lancaster.

But I voted Trump, and for delegates pledged to him. And he carried the state, and my area, handily.

Apparently Trump doesn’t need the traditional ground game.

As I said before, Trump should have won Wisconsin. I believe he was up 10 days before.

Then the 24/7 ads started. Hillary, Bernie, Cruz, Kasich and every super pac had negative ads against Trump.....not each other. Talk radio was #never Trump everyday. Cruz had the Rino blessing of Walker, Ryan, Johnson and others. The constant barrage against Trump was relentless. Also, it was right after the Melania ad/Heidi tweet, Fields affair etc. - the imaginary war on women. There were rumblings of voter fraud in Waukesha county. In the end Trump received 35%, Cruz couldn’t break 50%. And, Trump won Janesville (Rock County), hometown of Speaker Ryan. hehe

Cruz didn’t win Wisconsin - It was given to him.
