My FIRST inaugural ball was at the Mayflower Hotel. It was the Young Democrats Inaugural ball. I didn’t know a sole and was pretty much a wall flower.. pretty overwhelmed with all at that point.
It was for Lyndon B. Johnson. In college I was president of the Young Democrats Club and the president of LBJ for president. I was a sophomore and when my invitation arrived I was surprised that there was press there to take pix etc. I was a student government officer and the invite was delivered to the campus office. Pic was in the Cleveland Press holding my invite.
All very exciting.
We had one family car and my dad let me take it to DC to attend. I took an elderly black lady with me (she saw the write up and called). I had little money nor did she..and we stayed at the YWCA. The parade, inaugural and the ball were all fun.
Of course I understood diddle about politics etc and just oozed into the party of my parents - knowing the GOP was the party for the rich.
After college and once married I realized where my beliefs were.. Voted my first presidential election for Nixon.
Looking forward to the Presser at noon. It will start on time, pretty sure about that
didn’t know a soul... not sole... sigh.. or is it seigh?
I had to do some back checking. I recalled many weeks ago SOMEONE recommended the movie Eye in the Sky. Didn’t remember who that person was. Had to go back through all my pings.. to late March and you told me to skip Batman and Superman!
Well, I didn’t (and fully enjoyed my movie, which I saw with a guy pal who is really into superheroes) but I did note your recommendation.. and FINALLY did see it yesterday.
OUTSTANDING MOVIE.. so glad you recommended it as I would have probably passed on it. Very thought provoking and either the last or close to the last movie of Alan Rickman (Snape?)

Do you remember when JUNE LOCKHART was at one of the inaugural balls and they didn’t tell her she was on a live camera at the time, and she sat there and cussed. I thought that was Funny and sad at the same time!!!LOL Back then cussing on TV was a BIG issue..and a LADY.LOL
I can’t remember who was the new President then.
