That, and that real conservatism CAN include something other than open-borders/free tradism.
I spoke with a Libertarian-leaning friend in TX who has a big business that does a lot of stuff overseas and I asked him if he was a “free trader or a fair trader.” He gave me a long reply but it came down to the fact that we don’t have free trade, that we are hugely regulated as are our competitors. So when he sells in Europe, he is at a huge disadvantage from their tariffs. He said under those circumstances, he was a “fair trader.”
Well, that sounds sorta plausible!
OH! Trump just stated the “America First” will be his overriding theme of his administration.
Talks of WWII and how we saved the world in both that and the Cold War.
Demi and Repubs got Gorbachev to hear RR’s words, “tear down this wall.”
Then after the Cold War things started going sideways - tried to make other nations into western democracies who didn’t want to be western democracies.
Awesome. You know, when we do “America First,” the result is we usually can and do end up saving the world as well, but when we do “world first,” neither we nor the world can survive.

People are seeing through Cruz’s claim of being a conservative. His previous history (and his wife’s) don’t match up with conservatism.
2010 — conservatives fooled into giving the GOP the House, and got shafted.
2014 — conservatives fooled into giving the GOP the Senate, and got shafted.
Just CLAIMING to be a conservative is not enough anymore. Too many have claimed such in the past and turned when they crossed the Potomac.
Just dam, Cruz just announced that Celine Dion will be his VP choice in his run for Prime Minister of Canada.

Described the history between Egypt and Israel and the mistreatment of both by our current prez. We’ve picked fights with our older friends and they seek help elsewhere. And what actions has he done to back it up?
Rush’s version of ‘conservatism’ is heavily skewed to the desires of the US Chamber of Commerce and the Wall St Journal editorial page.
But after a few decades of watching their jobs and job prospects leave the country the little people “who make the country work” have had enough of corporate boardroom conservatism and its apologists, Rush included.
And that’s why a patriotic economic nationalist like Donald Trump is clearing the board.
I dunno. I am still waiting for Cruz to show actions that he is a conservative.
All he does is bloviate without producing anything.
What do we expect from a half term Senator?
