Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz has tapped former technology executive Carly Fiorina as his running mate in the race for the White House.
The Texas senator plans to formally unveil his pick for vice president Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis.
That's according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the plan, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized speak before the official announcement.
Cruz is trying to generate momentum for his struggling campaign. GOP front-runner Donald Trump swept primaries in five Northeastern states on Tuesday.
Cruz has been mathematically eliminated from winning enough delegates to clinch the Republican presidential nomination before primary voting ends.
But he's pushing to claim the nomination at a contested national convention in July.
The 61-year-old Fiorina endorsed Cruz earlier in the year after abandoning her own presidential bid. The former chief executive at Hewlett-Packard has never held elected office.

Considering how badly she did in the CA Senate race, I'd expect Trump to get about 172 delegates there now.
At least he could name State, Defense, Treasury and next Chair of the Federal Reserve Board. I would be seriously impressed if besotTED were to do that.

I have no interest in supporting liberals and populist statists like Hillary and Trump, but prefer to stick with Constitutional Conservatism. The United States is not a reality show.
So Cruz is tapping that as well now?
Yeah, right. And you’re pimping Cruz who’s trying to derail Trump? After JimRob’s two warnings? And no, after the Corker Bill and the Chicago slam on Trump, I don’t think Teddy is the principled conservative you guys have been sold. Not after he teamed up with the GOPe Romney, thanked Lindsey Graham, Neil Bush on board, and then, Glenn Beck.

Ah, our Constitution requires a person to be a ‘natural born’ US citizen to hold the office of president. Ted Cruz will never ever be a ‘natural born’ US citizen... Ted Cruz will forever be a natural born Canadian... Do not mess with our Constitution!

Two things struck me:
1) in a contested convention, doesn’t the delegates pick the running mate?
2) I assume this means that Ted won’t be angling for a VP spot himself. It kind of ends that discussion by the Cruzers.

What happened in the GOP primary in 2012? 2008? 2000? 1996? Etc. Once it became clear there was a presumptive nominee the other candidates withdrew from the race for the good of the party. That isn’t happening this year. Why? Because Cruz and his surrogates prefer Hillary to Trump.
That’s why we get this textbook vote suppression campaign from Cruz now: Why vote for Trump? He’s the same as Hillary.

Then the radio crackles again. It’s the voice of Glenn Beck saying the last few paid Cruz operatives are hunkered down at FR, mostly since Saturday. Still, they may pop up.
Keep on fighting for the mormon white horse ‘prophecy’ Glenn says. Then laughs, before the microphone is cut off a couple of seconds too late.
This latest shows that Trump is still inside Cruz's head. But Cruz cannot just take it like a man and say good one Donald, got me there, but just you wait. One of these days, when you least expect it, walking down a quiet lane in the park, out of nowhere, bam! Nope, instead he is such a horses ass he puts a horse's head in his own bed!
