Well, because, ya know, there's nothing funnier than a person with dementia. Especially if it's a reviled conservative that everyone likes to mock, anyway.

Someone needs to tell Ferrell that his 15 minutes are up. He was funny - in small doses, on SNL, 20 or 25 years ago.

Not so much in large doses, and not at all here.

What was funny was that his producer Fred De Cordova was a very close friend of the Reagan’s and was invited to all kinds of parties and White House events. Carson used to kid him about that stuff all the time.

And yes Carson was a Liberal, but like most Hollywood Liberals they really cannot explain why they are so.

Michael Moore as Al Gore is good casting.

They are both lists vying for position as “World’s Biggest Hypocrite”.

Mine, too. Nothing to make fun of. Sick “humor” seems to be the only kind there is anymore.

“I heard that there is a BC movie in the works.”

It would be more realistic if they found an actor with AIDS. Then it would even look like Bill.

In the spirit of this cartoon:

I can see Will Ferrell in that room, and Satan yelling 'More Cowbell! More Cowbell!'

Dementia is not funny, i dont care if he was portraying a liberal with dementia.

Seeing a person identity slowly deteriorating away is one of the saddest things in the world to witness

Agreed! My dad had Alzheimers in the late 80s and early 90s. It was the worst experience of my life. The disease has nothing to do with politics or policy. It is a terrible condition no matter who it debilitates.

Anyone who sees humor in its impact on anyone is devoid of compassion.

Absent. Confused. Empty. Afraid. Sad. Vacant. Violent. Agitated. Delusional. Captive. Lost. Seems like those were the only words from which to pick one or two from each week when I’d report on how my grandma was doing. That was for her last five years— a decline from the preceding two during which she had absolutely no idea who I was and the two before that when she thought I was her son. I will not be seeing the movie...

Not funny, but that’s Will Ferrell. Not funny and he’s not worth the time or money to see.

Dementia seems to effect people at different rates, the wife of one my neighbors got dementia and in just in two years she went from a happy woman who loved to greet and talk to everybody to a person who did not even recognize her husband anymore.

That was so sad, also another story.

The friend of my grandfather had dementia and when he was about to leave he looked at the front door and tried to open it but he could not do it and he panicked, this man was a doctor with a phd and he could not understand anymore how to use a door knob.

So this doctor with a phd had to ask a child while he was crying how to use a door knob, he was crying because he realized what was happening to him.

My grandfather died from vascular dementia (its a less common form of dementia then Alzheimer and can even be worse)

At the end i was visiting him in the hospital where he was staying and he looked at me and asked, who is this man?

I am familiar with vascular dementia. It has reared its ugly head with one member of the family now although it’s not gotten too bad yet. My grandfather (back in the ‘60s) got really bad, although at that time, just about everything was diagnosed as “hardening of the arteries”, but I’m sure (with 20/20 hindsight) vascular dementia is what he had.

It is heartbreaking when those you love & who have loved you, get to the point where they don’t know you any more. My dad’s sister, a really dear aunt with whom I had a fairly close relationship, several years ago when we went to visit her, asked my folks “who is that woman you brought with you?” They told her who I was and she didn’t really react to it and ignored me during the visit. Fortunately for my memories of her, the last time we visited, she wanted to hold my hand and was really sweet and talked to me - I had to tell her who I was and for a precious few minutes, she seemed able to hold on to the fact that we were related. It was a really good last visit - we saw her in May & she died the day after Thanksgiving.
