I remember 1962 Carlsbad NM when several high school kids collapsed at the “sock hop” dance at the armory. They were high on “pep pills”.
Even where I live now, the Ozarks, one of the most respected men in town (now deceased) used to sell “pep pills” to the local kids, Arrested, but soon back in his store front business. When he died the funeral home could not contain all the local citizens showing their respect. Almost all of the Chamber of Commerce was there.
I have read that back in the 1880s there was an attempt to get Kansas Farmers to grow opium. It failed because it is so labor intensive, having to cut and collect the pod juice.
That is why we distribute the drugs through clinics - free - and use the money we spend on 'The (lost) war on drugs" on therapy and treatment.
Focus on the users. Take the drug profits away from the criminals.
I was not trying to be humorous. I was merely inferring that these people are killing themselves through their own poor choices.
“Focus on the users. Take the drug profits away from the criminals.”
Criminals will find other ways to make their ill-gotten gains.
You mean the black market and all the killings over this highly profitable industry? Asset forfeiture, corruption of our LEOs?
Bravo to you supporters of chaos.
Yes. But let's not make it so easy for them.
Yeah, let’s send the A-10’s back for a little (or a lot) poppy crop eradication, and don’t tell me that it’s not fair to those poor opium poppy farmers in the Middle East..
This is exactly the point. As long as there is money in drugs, there will be criminals and corrupt police and politicians.
Jut take the money out of the drug trade. Criminals and corrupt politicians will disappear. (Or change jobs)
in many cases, “mexican heroin” is Islamic heroin:

Drug trends come and go, but the important untold story is that the Mexicans have all but taken over the supply chain for drugs in this country in the last eight years. Those used to be good paying American criminal jobs. Now the Mexicans take the supply as far as they can get away with, usually only one or two levels above the street dealer.
Below is a chart showing the seizure percentages and origin for heroin, going back 35 years. It doesn't have recent years, but there would have to be a huge surge in Afghani heroin hitting the U.S. to make a dent in these percentages.
ok. let’s look at this closer. What the author is claiming is, after the cartels pay their tab to Turkey, et al, they take their profits (cash/drugs) and buy arms from Albania and thereabouts, using European banks to launder the money. Some of the arms are used by the cartels, most are sold to other countries through illicit channels. (Which could explain how places like Somalia and NameAPlace have crazies that have armed to the teeth over the last ten or so years - and they’re not carrying Remingtons. And could also explain why every urban city is armed to the teeth despite our best efforts - drug dealers have ‘friends’ that are gun dealers). According to your chart, almost all of the heroin coming in, is from Mexico or South America. I can only guess that South America uses the same system as “Mexico”.
Mexican groups are gaining a presence on the world stage , not only in drug trafficking, but also in the arms smuggling and money laundering schemes of Romania and Bulgaria”
and
“the drug cartels are using weapons manufactured in Asia; it is because of the fluid interchange of drugs and arms.”
