The Washington Post published an article listing five candidates likely to be considered to be Trump's vice president. U.S. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa is on that list.

Ernst is Iowa's first female U.S. Senator. Ernst was not well known When she ran for the senate seat vacated by the retiring Tom Harkin.

KWWL-TV caught up with Ernst and asked if she would consider serving as Donald Trump's vice president. "I would say, 'did my mother pay you to say that?', Ernst said. "But, no. I would have to consider it, but I love what I do in the United States Senate, and I love working with Iowans."

Ernst says she hasn't heard from the Trump campaign. She says she won't endorse a candidate anytime soon.

Ted Cruz is a conservative LBJ.

And he is hated on FR.

Freepers need to consider two VERY different criteria RE Trump’s VP:

1) The first is the issue of electability. The race against Hillary is likely to be very close in terms of electoral votes. The choice needs to add to the electability of the ticket, either in terms of specific states, or by enhancing a particular demographic. IMHO, this automatically and without question eliminates people like Sessions or Hunter or Gingrich.

2) The next issue is one of governance. The choice has to be able to do the job, and be able to step in in case of disaster. Trump will be the target of any of a number of very nasty and evil groups - drug cartel, Islamists, Uniparty Globalists, nonwhite racist groups, Asian hegemonists, etc. The VP choice needs to be able to run the country AND carry Trump’s torch.

I do not believe in selecting a woman because she is a woman is any way to run this country. I am a woman, fought my battles in a man’s world and was always respected on an equal basis because of my knowledge and talents, not because I demanded equality simply because I was a woman. Sometimes I had to crack a few walls of resistance, but so what? That was part of the fun.
I am sick and tired of the weenies who believe in “Participation Trophies” and “Everybody is a Winner.” It will be the downfall of America if it isn’t stopped! There must be winners and losers. That is the only thing that inspires hard work and the struggle to EXCEL!

First term Senator? Trump needs someone who knows the ins-and-outs of DC. He needs a conservative LBJ.

...

Jeb said he would govern like LBJ, but probably not in the way you mean.

She's personally very capable (and far better than Bruce Braley would have been), but she did not move out of the Romney set when she had the chance, and is very establishment despite her campaign rhetoric.

(She has not as of yet spoken critically of any of the porkers at the trough, let alone castrated them.)

My gut tells me that she would be to Donald Trump what G.H.W. Bush was to Ronald Reagan.

Please explain! Sessions, Hunter, and Gingrich are ALL highly qualified. What’s your problem? Maybe because they are all three white men you think they’re disqualified?

I don't disagree with you. The problem is, many in the electorate will vote for a candidate based on having the same characteristics as themselves over an old white man if given the opportunity. That's not how I want it either, but that's how it is.

We are not a Conservative country. We have the left, the right, and the middle. If Hillary wins, the left vote is hers, and they'll believe the same of Hillary that you said of yourself. The right will not vote for her. That leaves the middle, at least half of whom are women, who do not hold Conservative or liberal values, and who are just as likely to vote for Hillary to be the first woman President as for any other reason.

That you don't see it that way is something I appreciate, but I'm not going to delude myself into thinking that others will see it that way. This may be our last chance, and I want every advantage I can get.

If Trump wanted a woman Senator, he could pick one with experience....like Lindsey Graham. Too bad Lindsey is a mealy mouth RINO.

I took a lot of time to write my post, please have the respect to read it. But AGAIN, the people you mention are qualified, but they add NOTHING to the electabilty of the ticket.

Bernie for VP !

Ya swipe votes from Hillary .... win win in landslide for Trump
Bernie gets impeached by Feb of 17 by a gop’e majority for trying to overthrow US in the 60’s.
Appoint Sarah Palin as VP.

How my fictional election script would play out. Alternate ending is Donald chokes to death on a potato chip an Bernie becomes POTUS with Moonbeam Brown as his VP...:o)

With all due consideration I personally do NOT see any GOOD VP choice on the horizon.

What specific states or specific demographics does Sessions, Hunter, Gingrich, or Demint add that Trump doesn’t already own.

Please be specific.

Matt Salmon of Arizona or Lee Zeldin of New York. Ted Yoho of Florida is a dork but a good guy, too.
