The issue is not whether anyone thinks that men belong in women’s bathrooms, but whether this is an issue that should be a focus of the president.

No law is going to make women suddenly comfortable with men entering their bathrooms, and they will make it very clear that men are not welcome there, or in their locker rooms. This whole issue is nothing more than a red herring cooked up by liberals who are constantly looking for some issue to use as “proof” that conservatives are hateful and intolerant. Before liberals dreamed up this idea, did anyone ever even consider whether there are laws specifically to keep men out of women’s restrooms? I know it never crossed my mind! And I will leave a bathroom if I see a man there.

And all Trump said is that this is a non issue and should be ignored as it presently is. As you say, the person who is uncomfortable can leave. And parents, if they have a concern can accompany their kids. This is one of those things that will sort itself out without a law. Federal or State.
