Cruz Scolds Boy After Child Tells Him ‘You Suck’ At Indiana Rally [VIDEO]
Daily Caller ^ | 5/2/2016 | Kerry Picket

La Porte, IN–Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said a kid growing up in his household would have been spanked if they acted out the way a boy did towards him Sunday during a rally.

The pre-teen boy was escorted out by local law enforcement when he told Cruz during a rally, “You suck.” The incident began when Cruz talked about his tax plan and heard the boy’s voice screaming something un-intelligible to him from the crowd.

“Apparently there’s a young boy who’s had some problems,” Cruz said. The child yelled something unknown again at Cruz but then screamed louder, “You suck.”

Sad to see this is only a news report of the event not the event itself. I'm hoping somebody will put the real thing up on You Tube. Hilarious! Kids say the darnedest things.

Should 11-year-olds not attend political rallies? I’ve got 4 kids, and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring at least our 11-year-old to a political rally.

“You suck” is what I expect from leftists and their progeny and is not a constructive excersize.

Right in one. Had this discussion with WBill Jr just this weekend. My son informed me in no uncertain terms that Donald Trump was a terrible person and that he hated Trump. (where he got that from, I dunno. Lots of Fox News on at his grandparent's house....) I suspect that if I was 12, "Trump Sucks" would have been the comment, but my boy knows better to speak that way around me.

Rather than taking him to task, I said "Fair Enough. Why? What makes him a bad choice?"

No response. But I could see a lot of thinking going on.

Told WBill Jr. that opinions were fine, and strongly held opinions were fine, but they needed to be backed up with something more than hyperbole. There are plenty of legitimate reasons not to like Trump - or frankly, any politician - but "HE's AWFUL! BECAUSE I SAID SO!" immediately lowers you to the least common denominator of the discussion. Makes you no better than some idiot shouting in the street.

Lots more thinking going on. I'm looking forward to the next ride in the car with him. :-)

What I *didn't* say, is that sometimes - there *IS* a time to bring the discussion to the least common denominator. Shouting in the street (or worse) is the only thing that gets attention. But that's a pretty nuanced argument for a pre-teen, we'll figure that one out when we get there.

I’d bet Cruz is lying once again, he doesn’t spank his girls. Spanking causes brain damage: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=spanking%20causes%20brain%20damage

Same here.

But given your screen name, I should have thought that instead of soap, you’d use a sauce made from something like habaneros!

On a s hoop night?

And generally speaking, no, I do not think children should be at political rallies.

Personally, I've tried to keep WBill Jr. *away* from politics - even away from pols that I might happen to support. That's not easy, sometimes. We had a member of our church run for an office, and come looking for "help" (stuffing envelopes, licking stamps, delivering signs, 5 million other things that go into a campaign). I said "No" as far as my kids were concerned - even though I personally liked her, voted for her, thought that she was honest and would do (actually, did) a good job.

IMO, kids should be kids and not political props. They've got the rest of their lives to deal with adult nonsense like politics. No need to roll them around in the slime at an early age.

YMMV. That's just my opinion.

Actually he is. It’s just no one is listening.

Cruz spent 6-7 minutes on national tv yesterday, not offering solutions but dodging a simple question... will you support the nominee of the party.

No solutions...just political bobbing and weaving.

The kid deserved a scolding and and trust me, his parents were all in. I would assume the kid did not walk in to the event by himself. He was supervised by somebody most likely.

Thanks for the insightful post. In the future please offer something more than Cruz bashing. It is getting old. What kind of place do you want FR to look like?

>> “You suck” is not even close to being rude by modern conversational standards <<

Maybe so. Yet the obvious sexual meaning of the phrase shows just how degraded our culture has become — in that such a crude obscenity can be casually tossed around in public by an eleven-year-old kit.

Plain spokeness is not the same as disruptiveness.

This child wasn’t asked his opinion of Cruz, or even interjecting himself into a conversation about the topic, he decided to just shout it out to be disruptive.

You can be plain spoken without being an a$$.

I have 4 kids and I’d never put them in an abusive situation like attending a Cruz rally. However if I had a temporary psychotic breakdown and took them, I’d expect them to be truthful at all times. The parents of this young child needs to be questioned by CPS.

Yeah, that was pretty bad. He’s not always that bad, though. The media chooses to highlight his worst moments (basketball ring). I was addressing my response to “he has no solutions”, which simply isn’t true.
