Rush should not use Lincoln as example - the country then went to war after Lincoln become POTUS.

Plus, I don’t think anyone was anywhere close to the number of delegates needed.

We also didn’t have primaries until 1910. So using Lincoln is a ridiculous argument. There were no primary voters to be disenfranchised.

Also, California does not select delegates via convention, so this game can't be played there. California sends vetted delegate rosters to the candidates, and the candidates choose their own delegates.

Lincoln did not have 20 less states and millions of less votes.

Rush failing to mention that BRIBERY of GOP delegates is allowed per the RNC. About a week and a half ago, Univ. of Virginia's Larry Sabato and Tucker Carlson (in for Sean) were discussing just this on "Hannity".

Larry Sabato said, wide-eyed: "I didn't realize until recently that, yes, bribery of the Republican delegates *is allowed* per RNC rules!"

I’m sorry. What I meant to say was there wasn’t a huge delegate gap back then like there is now.

Also, Lincoln shut off talks with the Confederacy after his inauguration on March 20, 1861. He and his business cronies in New England wanted the .civil War. However, they thought it would be short and not the long carnage it became. In 1864 and 1865 once it became clear the Union would end looting and raping of civilian property was not only allowed but looting was encouraged and rapes were ignored.

If one reads the daily correspondence of Sherman and his officers on the March to the sea one will see over 5,000 black women followed the army proving sexual favors to the troops. How many of the mixed race offspring were from those encounters? Census records from 1870 show a significant increase in you mulatto children in the ares born in 1865 -1866 where Sherman’s troops passed through in 1864-1865.
