Why not? He’s married to a bison.
Taste great with mashed potatoes and a glass of chilled Merlot.
You can’t roller skate in a buffalo herd,
But you can be happy if you’ve a mind to.
“It amazes me how the Sharps Big 50 did that with black powder. It eradicated the buffalo on the plains in a fairly short span of time.”
Firing a 400-500 grain bullet at anywhere between 1200 and 1800 fps will get the job done on any large game present in North America.
And if you factor in the switch to 45-70 government rounds in the late 1870s, it just gets more deadly.
I would have thought that His Feculence would declare that honor for his Wookie..
Excellent idea!
I have also always abhorred the naming of roadway, bridges, etc. after local and state politicians. Nearly all are criminals or crooks, and don’t deserve to be remembered on maps and such.
Yep, and they used paper patched cast lead bullets. Amazing use of what was available.
“Yep, and they used paper patched cast lead bullets. Amazing use of what was available.”
Yep. And, it can still get the job done even today.
Bisons leave Bison Shit to step in. That is Obama’s gift to America.
Yes, it can.
Did you know that someone has systematically made it difficult to acquire information on methods of paper patch bullets?
DHS? Probably. Headhake.
Just think, we were once a nation of Free Men.
The Bison.
I can live with that and the bald eagle.. Ben Franklin wanted the Wild Turkey!
I it’s very simple what they are doing. Once the bison is the national mammal they will move heaven and earth to protect it. They will take private lands because a bison might be able to live there, etc.
I’ll go for the bald eagle.
Buffalo Bill got his name by killing buffalo for the railroad crews, so the story goes.
Brummet Echohawk (Pawnee) told a different story in the Tulsa World years ago.
Cody was out hunting buffalo, shot a big bull which turned on him and charged his horse. The bull threw both Cody and the horse to the ground, the horse then ran off leaving Cody to fend for himself.
The Only shelter was one scraggly tree on the prairie and Bill headed for it with one mad bull behind. He made the tree, climbing as high as he could. The bull never left.
Later a Cavalry patrol came along and saw what had happened, shot the bull and promptly started calling Cody Buffalo Bill as he had been buffaloed by a buffalo.
Years later Cody took the name as his stage name for his wild west show.
I read in a book by an old mountain man that the Indians loved the 1866 Wubchester because of it’s shiny brass frame, but wanted “Needle guns” for buffalo. It took me a while to find he meant the .50-70 cal Springfield Rifle.
***..difficult to acquire information on methods of paper patch bullets***

Bottom line is a buffalo on the ground can leap to his feet..toot sweet
No, it is about publication of books on the subject. Some were available on web until recently, now gone. Commanding very high prices now where available.
cotton based vellum will work as will cotton based typing paper.
I’ve read this is the best book on the subject:
Paul Matthews’ book “The Paper Jacket.”
