Trump is the GOP nominee
Politico ^ | May 4, 2016 | Ben White |

As predicted in this space yesterday, Donald Trump rolled to a big win in Indiana and Ted Cruz dropped out of the GOP presidential race. Trump is now on track to hit the 1,237 delegates he needs to win the nomination on the first ballot in Cleveland in July. The focus now shifts to how Republicans will deal with the fact that Trump — who is neither a fiscal nor a social conservative — is their standard bearer. Some began on Tuesday to line up behind the Manhattan-based brand manager. The RNC officially acknowledged Trump as the victor. But there are plenty of big names — including Cruz — who have not lined up behind Trump and may never do so.

This is why the tea party movement was intentionally decentralized with no true “leader”.

We are now exposing opportunists who viewed conservatism as a racket for personal profit.

^^ THAT ^^ is SPOT ON!!

Kasich and Cruz still own their delegates.

On the first round, they are still bound (IMO).

Your error is in taking snapshots of reality, but not understanding that the snapshots only reflect momentary sentiments, not anything of enduring significance.

Trump's "favorability" numbers will change anytime he addresses the particular issues, most likely to influence any particular group of voters. The fall game will now get started, and Trump is already ahead in some polls. Just wait until he gets on in earnest!

As well as those that thought that they had command and control of people on the right because they are “celebrities”.

Keep dreaming a little dream of Hildabeast. It won’t make a difference. Why you should want to cheer on the “Beast” is beyond belief.

And it’s not over - now the real fun begins as Trump pulverizies Hitlery, or any other stiff that the Dems trot out if she bails due to indictment/other.

There are certain memes everyone needs to just drop, one of them being the Trump’s sister supreme court nominee bit. It’s just laughable.

It’s not a meme. It’s from the Oompa Loompa’s own orange stained mouth

It’s time now for Trump supporters to make amends. They have a lot of work to do to get the Anti-Trump crowd on their side.

And Trump cannot win without the rest of the Republican Party.

Probably need to get a grasp on fun banter about a family member, vs official appointment discussion.

Lets hope not...if so, then we are without hope.

I noticed the GOPe is still not in the acceptance stage, but they have moved on to bargaining.

Priebus statements today have me convinced that their agenda is now to attempt to mold Trump into a GOPe type by pushing their platform on him by manipulating his platform.

If Trump starts softening and listening to the GOPe he will lose much of what he has.

There is some similarity in dynamics with Obama 08, in that a lot of people get caught up in the excitement itself. However, it all he does is seal the border (i.e. fight against foreign invasion) and appoint at least a couple of constitutionalist SC judges (obviously no one would ever get any congress to confirm a family member for SCOTUS), that would be a great start.

Pro-America and Pro-Constitution means you have to be Anti-Trump

What a ridiculous statement!! Trump's stands in this campaign are demonstrably to the right of most of the other candidates, whom he has now vanquished. But by cherry picking data out of context, the die hard Trump haters can reinforce their initial bias. This is sad, but still obvious.

Trump defeated Cruz--who was the one candidate arguably as Conservative as Trump--because he succeeded in better focusing the issues that Conservatives wanted addressed at this moment in time. What are those issues?

Certainly immigration and unfavorable trade policies were near the top of the list. But Trump also clearly distanced himself from the rest of the pack, by his fearless rejection of the "politically correct" social mandate that has been stifling dissent in America since 1990. Nothing has been so essential to the Conservative cause in my lifetime, than breaking the back of that socially imposed mandate. Nothing!

Trump also, has adopted a foreign policy that is very clearly more Conservative & pro-American & Constitutional than that of most of the Republican Party in this Century. His policy is a 21st Century reflection of the wisdom--the wisdom for the ages--that guided both Washington & Jefferson in their Constitutional dealings with other peoples.

Additionally, and as a corollary of the above, Trump has restored pride in America--devotion to America and the Americans--as the major approach to all political issues. Anyone who does not see that as true Conservatism, pro-American & pro-Constitution, apparently does not believe that it is important to put the interests of your own people, foremost.

Finally, what is really the single most important issue from a Conservative standpoint, in selecting a President? It is surely the preservation of free & independent States--the United States, federated together in the Constitutional Union the Founders achieved, for the stated purposes achieved--by the heroic decisions of 1776 & 1787-89.

How can anyone who accepted those who have compromised those decisions, as candidates in the past, reject Trump, and still claim to be "Conservatives." Is he not manifestly way--way--to the right (and more clearly pro-American) than any of those who have prattled about "interdependence, diversity, new world orders," etc.;--or who have risked the lives & limbs of young Americans in preposterous "nation building" adventures, in recent decades?!
