Donald J. Trump, turning his attention to the general election, has begun quietly reaching out to key elements of the Republican establishment as he seeks to unite the party behind his candidacy before his anticipated battle against Hillary Clinton.
Mr. Trump, who is expected to run on a nonideological platform of his own design, is trying to reassure party officials that he understands there are certain norms even he needs to follow as the Republican nominee, and that he is capable of producing an organization and infrastructure that can sustain a costly general election campaign.

The GOPe already fears Paul Manafort. Check out the latest DC Whispers column today. The man is unstoppable. Tons more will be coming to their senses in the coming weeks, trust me.
And now the Bush family is done. They will never be welcome in D.C. again once Manafort is done with them.
The President becomes the defacto head of their political party.
As someone else mentioned elsewhere, this just may be Trump’s hostile take over of the Republican party.
I will withhold judgement to see how it turns out.
erm, as the presumptive nominee of the republican ticket, at some point he has no choice but to address the formalities - of course this doesn’t have to include embracing their globalist agenda!~ ;)

I love the outside-of-the-box thinking Trump is using to turn a boring, unwatched, uncared for GOP national convention into an into a fascinating event that people will WANT to tune into and STAY tuned into.
It’s a complete waste of a major chunk of free national television time to do anything other than make it into an event that people will want to watch.
If he doesn't convince them do they have any right before the convention to refuse him as ‘their’ Representative?????? Even with the fallout that would come by doing so????

Of course Trump will get the GOPe to settle down and back him. Afterall, they want to retain at least some of their gravy train perks.

No right whatsoever. The primary voters have spoken. It’s why we have primary elections: to allow the people to choose who they want to run for President. And they’ve chosen Donald J. Trump.

It was going to heavily watched if it was going to be contested, IMO.
Now that the sport is gone from the convention, the only folks watching will be the choir.

It’s THEIR party....you’ve simply chosen to be a member of....I want to know if they have that right....just because you continue to see what you want to see doesn’t make it so.....which is certainly why I didn’t address you with the question rather one who has handle on the election process.
Now, the slew of GOPe coming out ‘not endorsing’, ‘not attending convention’ today make sense all of a sudden.

Bummer. Someone who you “didn’t address the question to” chose to make a comment to you. What has the world come to? It sounds to me like a little snowflake needs to take a break in the FR Safe Space.
At this point, ALL Republicans and conservatives need to seriously start supporting Trump, or we may end up with Hillary and those who should, but refuse to support Trump WILL have major responsibility for 8 years of President Hillary Clinton, and what she will do to the country and the people.
