Byron York: What does Paul Ryan want from Donald Trump?
Washington Examiner ^ | MAy 6,2017 | BYron York

Posted on 05/06/2016 7:55:56 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Ryan's stand carries significant risk. With no competition, Trump is going to win more primaries, and pile up more votes, by the time of the convention. If Ryan changes course and supports Trump without some truly meaningful concession from the nominee, Ryan will look weak. If he opposes Trump the whole way, he'll anger a lot of people in his own party.

At the moment, Trump does not appear inclined to accommodate Ryan. Shortly after the CNN interview aired, Trump released a statement saying, "I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan's agenda. Perhaps in the future we can work together and come to an agreement about what is best for the American people. They have been treated so badly for so long that it is about time for politicians to put them first!"

In addition, in some cases, Trump has a majority of Republican voters on his side. For example, exit polls from GOP primaries have shown strong support for temporarily banning Muslims who are not U.S. citizens from entering the U.S. In Pennsylvania, 69 percent of GOP primary voters supported the proposal. In New York, 68 percent supported. In Florida, the number was 64 percent. In Georgia, 68 percent. In Ohio, 65 percent. Michigan, 63 percent. Texas, 67 percent. And in Ryan's home state of Wisconsin, 69 percent supported it.

That's about 2/3 support among Republican primary voters across the country for a proposal Ryan called "not what this party stands for, and more importantly...not what this country stands for." If Ryan were to urge Trump to back down from the proposal, Trump's response might be: I won, and this guy is making demands?

It's likely the two men will meet next week.

And, as the article says, Ryan has worked on entitlement reform since he’s been in DC. He’s been there for over TWenty years! He hasn’t accomplished anything.

He wants protection for the illegal-immigrant loving donors that support the big-spending RINOs who elected him Majority Leader.

A hard sell.

I don’t think Ryan will meet him one-on-one. He is probably too cowardly. Ryan and his cohorts are probably going to attempt a gang bang of some sort. They do not realize that Trump can handle whatever they put to him.

Icahn’s 150 million Congressional PAC will cut Ryan’s nuts off. That is if Manafort doesn’t doesn’t stuff him in a oil barrel first...lol

“Trump to meet with the House Republican leadership next Thursday ...”

This sure sounds like an attempted gang-up to me!

RINOs are heavily dependent on donations from the Cheap Labor Express. He’s gonna have to convince them that other donors will support them on other issues in his campaign.

2018 will be a very ‘interesting’ election for those who oppose the tenets in his campaign.

Ryan is a POS.

Trump should just forget Ryan and back Ryan’s primary opponent.

Ryan betrayed his constituents. Ryan has got to go! I do not care if Ryan endorses Trump. Trump should tell him he also has a “phone and a pen!”

Isn't this great, watching all of these GOPe clowns come to the realization that they've been pwned by Donald Trump?

The Revolution is NOT going to fail.

Can you FEEL what's happening, People?

I can't tell you haow many different people I've heard from that are saying "Go Trump!"

The Establishment's demonization campaign has failed utterly, and they're either going to shape up, or ship out.

Trump will win in a landslide. He's going to take NY, OH, FL, PA, and whatever other dang states he wants.

The Establishment is pissing their pants, knowing what's coming.

It's only just beginning to dawn on them, the MAGNITUDE of what's happening.

It's going to wipe out Hillary and the Democrats, the Lamestream Media, the Left, and whoever in the GOPe doesn't shape up.

The Revolution is ON!

Vote Trump!

There is not a dime’s worth of difference between Paul Ryan and his BFF Luis Gutierrez, or even Barack Obama, on the issue of immigration. Trump needs to work to undermine and defeat him. Period. We can unify once he’s gone.

I hear you, Brother! Does anyone think Ryan isn’t trying to save his miserable position? Further, does anyone “know” and RYAN cares about our people, the honest tax paying citizenry or invading illegals?

Despite his beard grown for “hunting and his try at manly looks”, what has he done, really?

It is “flushing time”...sometimes it takes twice! Ryan is on his way out and he knows it. The eTABLISHMENT is fighting for their lives. Shame on him and them, they have never cared about ours. Moreover...

My vote will be cast for the candidate considering the USA, first and foremost! Not a party, not an interests!

Nothing else matters in the end, if your country/your home isn’t secure, what is your future?

V/R,

J

Ryan is despicable. I can't believe I actually listened to him spout his "conservative" principles while playing along with Mitt. A perfect example of why I get weary of Levin and Rush babbling about "constitutional conservatives". It's all utter hogwash. Labels. It's all about the money they funnel back and forth to each other. Our money.

What really pisses me off, is they criticize Trump for donating to the Dems while doing business in NY. So what? It was HIS money to spend how he wanted to do his business.

Why aren't they as worried about the taxpayer money which is paying their salaries...and keeping DC lobbyists and pundits wealthy.

Call me bitter, but I despise them all.

Finally... someone who will put those self appointed elite snobs in their place. This makes me smile. They all are going to try to keep their place in the power grid... they all are trying to show the world Trump is their puppet and beneath them ... and it’s not working... Trump is in the driver’s seat, put there by the people who the elitists rejected. I don’t think they’ve gotten the message yet... but they will.. and it brings a smile. Justice!

Ryan thinks he is bulletproof because of 15 years of the Wisconsin libs re-electing him.

“A man who lives in a penthouse and travels in his custom 757 vs a man who sleeps in his office and showers at the gym...?”

One man worked his tail off, was brilliant, and made $10 billion, the other didn’t.
