Fault lines: GOP civil war deepens

Donald Trump is poised to breeze through another round of primary contests this week -- while the Republican Party splinters around him.

Trump's ascent to the top of the GOP, which was capped last week with Ted Cruz's devastating loss in the Indiana primary, happened so fast that even the billionaire himself was surprised. And the whipsawed party establishment now faces immediate choices -- none of which particularly appeal to them.

Will they unite behind their party's standard-bearer? Will they sit out the 2016 campaign? Or will they fight on, in a quixotic quest to undermine Trump?

Trump's opponents are still sorting through the wreckage of the GOP primary season for a path forward. But it has become painfully clear over the past five days that party unification will be tough to come by, if it happens at all. Past presidents, party leaders and prominent Republicans are all choosing sides, from unenthusiastic acceptance (Bob Dole) to pledges not to vote for either party in November (former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Lindsey Graham) to musings about a third-party bid (Bill Kristol).

Some Masonic weed. The tag line says “in this sign you will conquer”, and is attributed to the Knights Templar, and has been adopted by the American Masons.

Every district needs to do what mine did and throw the weasels out.
If you are represented by a multi-national politician, Cantorize your weasels, America.
We showed you how.

What exactly makes Kristol, Jeb, Lindsey, etc. the Republican Party? Since when are they and not the GOP voters the Republican Party?

I think they need an attitude adjustment.

Our country needs to wake up.
Do you think Donald Trump wants to give up his successful businesses just to run for president.
Answer is NO—he sees what is happening to our country, the country he loves too, he thinks he can bring us back to the great country we have loved for so long.
Think what a sacrifice he is making.
He has to be losing millions of dollars.
While he is working for our country the establishment in Washington (the ones that helped to bring us down) are doing everything they can tom stop him
The establishment (Ryan is one of them) don’t think about our country except for what they can take from us to build them into big fat politicians.
WAKE UP AMERICA

I’m interested to here you expand on that, or does that comprise the beginning, middle and end of your thought process on this?

For people like most of us on Free Republic, if Hillary gets in the White House is all over for us. Our only problem is keeping Hillary out of the White House, If she gets in, she will take care of our other problems. The GOPe moles and judas goats on Free Republic, she will take care of them also, but later on. It is up to us. Don’t depend on the GOPe ers and Never Trump , or the Anybody But Trump for help. As the old saying goes, “A leopard can’t change its spots.”

“In this sign you will conquer” or, in latin “in hoc signo vinces” goes back to Constantine the great. The emperor claimed he saw in a dream an image of a cross amd was told that in this sign he would conquer his foes. Constantine put the image of the cross on his soldiers shields and went on to defeat his foes at the battle of the milvian bridge in 312 AD. This victory made him sole emperor of Rome.

People who voted for Trump in the GOP primary are responsible for a President Hillary Clinton.

So if she's been so bad the last 30+ years, why did all Trumps GOP opponents put up with her lies, betrayal and corruption all these decades? Where was all the outrage and public demands from the GOP that she be removed/charged/prosecuted?

You are right, I think the Templars used it too and it has trickled down to the Masons who have in mind a completely different sign, me thinks.

What the GOPe is doing is not quixotic, it’s Quisling. They’ve been doing it to the rest of us since 2012. Maybe earlier.

Good. Its about time. Its time to clean our own house first before any attacks on the treasonous Rats can be successful.

I would prefer that the GOPe died. The insult “RINO” is now a compliment. We need a new Conservative party. The GOPe is just that, “ESTABLISHMENT”. And that is their problem.

somebody please remind me why Bob Dole’s endorsement matters?

Well, if he's talking about which brand of adult diapers he prefers, then I suppose that his brand endorsement would matter.

...while the Republican Party splinters around him.... Actually, the rank and file are rallying, not splintering. This is a statement based in fear, and then again it is from the Clinton Cable Network.

Yup, this is just more concern trolling by the media about the fate of the GOP as they used to know it, a compliant tool of Leftists by posing as a fake opponent or alternative to the democratic socialist party.

The media and the Left are very concerned the pretense is vanishing. The media always has helpful advice for the GOP such as how to be more 'inclusive', more critical of white privilege, express more shame of the racial make up of the GOP base.
