Why not Donald Rumsfeld? Disastrous Iraq war my ass. The withdrawal in 2011 was disastrous.

No, it was the Bush war that destabilized Iraq. There was no one there to take control of the sunni shia conflict.

And the Arab Spring and the invention of ISIS had nothing to do with it?

Rumsfeld is 83. Trump may want a younger running mate—one who could potentially run for POTUS in eight years.

No thanks. Mattis has a lotta big talk. But he let Wuterich get arrested for a combat action. He let those Haditha guys swing in the wind.

And I don’t want the childlife life of a military base. I haven’t seen the slightest indication that he would be a good president. Commandant Vandegrift woulda thrown the FBI right off the island if they showed up to prosecute Marines on Iwo. Allen west would make the cut for me.
But this is not a time to dive deeper into war.

This is a time for a smart, businesslike, private sector mentality. No politicians, no Obama military men. Just a person like Trump described already. Some heartless, ice cold, no nonsense negotiator.

Who is the Marine who was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff?

It did. They filled the vacuum which was inevitable. Of course if the traitor, Obama, had maintained substantial military presence and stopped the Bush nation building, we could have controlled the situation for longer - at about a billion dollars per month.

And, we didn’t even get the oil.

“No offense to Allen West but I would prefer a very high ranking military person with lots of connections inside our military. Also with a very high IQ and a brilliant strategic mind.”

Lt General HR McMaster. Check out the youtube videos featuring him.

“Why do so many Freepers pick Allen West? Wasn’t he only a one-tern congressman?”

Name recognition. There aren’t a lot of well known military officers these days.

You want to take someone like that OUT of the millitary and put them in a largely ceremonial role?

“Why not Donald Rumsfeld? Disastrous Iraq war my ass. “

Because he is a neocon idiot who ran a war as poorly as America has ever done. The 2011 withdrawal was bad, but it would be the same in 2016, 2026, 2033,,,, whenever.

It isn’t a ringing endorsement of Rumsfeld that he ran a war twice as long as WWII and never won it.
Look at tactics... he let supply convoys roll for years down the same IED routes with nothing to stop it. Can anyone imagine Ike or Patton running the RedBall express supply trucks for years through German ambushes and not lifting a finger to put a stop to it?

No more Bushies.

Guess I was a bit ahead of Roger Stone’s curve.
I posted this on March 14th of this year:

“Allen West would probably be the only VP that could make Trump sit down and wet his pants. Would make for quite an alpha male ticket.”

I’ve always said one good tern deserves another.

He could be, but he’s got that pesky conviction that prohibits him from any office in government.

In the past, before the St.L country club "Republicans" destroyed her, Sara Steelman of Missouri would have been my choice. A blond hair version of Sarah Palin. Pro-Second Amendment. Pro-RTW. Anti tax, etc.

Had she been elected instead of Jay Nixon (Hillary's possible VP choice) as Governor of Missouri she would have sufficient name recognition, track record, etc. by now. Alas, it is not to be....
