Married men will do whatever it takes for their family, even if that means cheating others outside their clan. Thus, they are also more unscrupulous.
Third wave feminism means that odds are great that your prospective woman will not accept your headship. The law will back her all the way. Thus, you are not the man in the relationship - the government is the man and you are the third wheel that keeps them on their path, wherever it leads.

If I had to do it all over again, I’d have remained single, perhaps joined a monastery, if I leaned RC. Marriage to the wrong woman just leads to the early arrival of hell on Earth. No unadoptable dogs to worry about getting put down rather than adopted, as the bank forecloses on (its) house.
My Bible tells me that God is good. Evidentially, I find it difficult to see! Take the house, but kill the dogs, too? Where is His love in such a thing? ‘As far as the East is from the West!’, I guess! (Yes, I know the verse is about ‘out transgressions’, but it often seems more like ‘His love’, also.)

Courts today are not the courts of yesterday.
Nobody wants a divorce, but they are more common today than staying marriage. There are two distinct camps, the happy for the rest of your life camp. Sadly its the smaller camp, and the second camp, that one is the largest, and ends in divorce.
HADD (Husbands against dirty divorce) has had a meteoric rise in membership. Punitive divorces are rampant, fathers are torn from their children, saddled with outrageous child support and sometimes spousal support, even when ex-wives get remarried. Fathers are leaving the country because of it. not because they want to be deadbeat dads, but because they cannot afford the child support and still have a decent life.
No, Real Men don’t get Married, that’s why there are pre-nuptial agreements, separate estates, and the list goes on and on. The government penalizes married couples clear thru retirement and attach social security, Medicare, and supplemental insurance. More people who are married, stay together and get divorced after 65 to have better retirement benefits.
If you the happily forever married guy, I doff my hat to you, most are not that lucky.
Marriage is not what it used to be, and it has to do with the court system. Ever wonder why it take a Priest or Justice of the piece to marry you, but two lawyers and everything you own to get divorced.
We as a modern society mostly have rejected God and so we reject His design of marriage as it should be. No wonder we are a messed up nation.
A good marriage between partners who RESPECT and love each other is an amazing thing to be in and behold in others.
A bad marriage is the much like the prelude to slavery. I’m sorry if that offends some people but from my observations of marriage over the last forty years or so that appears to be the truth more often than not. Especially once child support and lifetime alimony are factored in.
Same here (married almost 20); I understand why men avoid it, and it is hard to blame them.

If I had to do it all over again, starting at age 20, I would have gotten a vasectomy and never dated, let alone gotten married.
And he died alone, lost and lonely.
They probably make more money because of the costs of a family (and as you describe, therefore have more to lose). I know I’ve had to eat sh!t sandwiches at my job that I’d never tolerate if I wasn’t raising a family; employers know they can push in a job market like this...
Everytime I go visit with my doctor he complains about living with his wife. She must be a doozy to live with— or maybe its him. Heck I should bill him instead for the therapy listening session.
