On May 9 — less than two years since universal background checks were hoisted onto the backs of law-abiding citizens in Washington state — Gabby Giffords was in the state campaigning for special protective orders that will allow firearm confiscation.
The orders — “Extreme Risk Protection Orders” — would be similar to California’s Gun Violence Restraining Orders, inasmuch as they would allow “family or household members” to petition a judge to order the temporary confiscation of firearms from another family member or person living in the household.

No, it’s been increasing decades. There are more mass shootings in the last few decades than half a century ago. More drugs (legal and illegal) are consumed these days. More people apparently feel desperate or are despairing or have given up (just look at the number of people on welfare, food stamps, perpetually unemployed, etc).

Yes, they do. That doesn’t mean mass shootings - which are actual events - are hoaxes created by massive conspiracies and engineered to promote gun control. Thus far they have often had the exact opposite effect in society. As mass shootings have increased, gun control has lessened in many respects and concealed carry has skyrocketed. This is the second time - at least - where you have made either an incredibly dumb mistake (you see things that aren’t there) or you just made something up out of thin air (which would show you to be dishonest). No, you can bring up questions all you like, but that isn’t what you did. What questions about that shooting have you brought up with me, for instance? NONE. All you have asked is where I got my information about the shooting from. Can you tell the difference between those two things? Apparently you can’t. The real issue here is that you want to believe that mass shootings are massive conspiracies created to promote gun control measures (which have not worked so far anyway).
Weak minded people want to believe there are massive and constant conspiracies going on because it relieves them of the necessary task of realizing problems among human beings are often much more mundane in origin and much more difficult to solve than exposing a supposed conspiracy. Idiot conspiracy theorists even believe the tornado in Joplin, Missouri was caused by an atmospheric control experimental group in Alaska! The fact that tornadoes happen in Missouri all the time, doesn’t seem to matter.
Seriously, as education continues to fail, common sense becomes less common, and people see conspiracies where they do not exist, this sort of conspiracy quackery will continue to fester.
