There’s no such thing as conservatism? Then what is FR?

We're post conservative now. We can't even adequately describe what we stand for until we more clearly determine what exactly Trump believes. Then we believe that. Because he's the smartest.

I agree that Mike Lee is a conservative. No doubt about it. But he is sadly confused about Donald Trump.

Frankly, I have a more consistent conservative history than does Mike Lee. I was one of the six or seven founders of an organization to promote Goldwater, in Southern Ohio, formed immediately after the 1960 election. For a full decade before that, I had taken on all comers, students or faculty, in High School & College. I have been engaged in the ideological fray ever since.

Mike Lee has simply not bothered to look at Trump as a personality; he has totally missed the instinctive Conservatism of the man--the predecessor to commitment on the issues, on which Trump is now fully engaged; many of which issues, he simply never truly focused on as "issues," before this campaign.

Consider my reasons for this statement. Has not his behavior lately--including since my article was written--confirmed the analysis?

Trump: Metaphor For American Conservatism.

All of us, at some point had to start with a personality that valued continuity; which understood that you must build, whether a culture, building, economy or an argument on a firm foundation. America was exceptional from its inception, because if was built, step by step, by people who understood the process. Contrast that conceptually, with the Leftists pursuing a fantasy driven wish list, a false reality from the clouds: and you will see how important are personality traits in understanding the future.

I just hope he doesn’t continue doing what Obama is doing. They are both so narcissistic. Trump scares me too.

"...Why is it that all the googly-eyed trumpers have to imagine some grand conspiracy every time somebody expresses reservations about the chosen one?..."

Because they are not actual "reservations".

More like pursuing an agenda that was decided upon in some smoky back room.

"I'm not ready yet" my white butt! It's the theater of the absurd, and I refuse to buy a ticket.

‘The POINT is: Where have all these stab-in-the-back people come from? They have ALL come from the Political ranks. Politicians All, and Far too many lawyers to boot! Where was the vetting of Rubio and Cruz who are respectively an anchor baby and a Canadian? All the hoopla about Obama being a foreigner led to nothing because the politicians on both sides wouldn’t touch the question! TRUMP posed the Question about Obama. Trump posed the question about Cruz. WHERE were all the Conservatives who tout the constitution? Nowhere to be found. And yet these same purists doubt Trump’s understanding of the constitution!!!!!’

Excellent points!! Where was Obama’s vetting? I wrote to my Rep. about it, and he assured me all was well, that the professional politicians had the real facts, whereas I, a lowly constituent, just needed to shut up and be guided by their brilliance.

This Rep. had the reputation and voting record of a ‘conservatives.’ Yet in fact, a spineless Boehner yes-man is all he was.

So sick of the entire DC cabal. Go Trump!!!

You’re right. It’s fundamentally impossible for an individual to actually not like or trust Trump. The only possible explanation for such an absurd claim is a grand smoky backroom conspiracy. Obviously.

It’s funny to me that many of you still haven’t noticed that your political movement closely resembles a leftish cult of personality. (I had a secret meeting with Goldman Sachs and Karl Rove before I wrote that.)

I guess your thoughts don't include a coherent definition of the word whine, along with a lot of other things.

Put on your Nikes, Hale Bopp's coming back!

Some are so enamored with the way career politicians have run the country, they’re affronted by the idea of letting a businessman have a crack at the job. They’re of the, ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,’ mentality.

You can’t reason with people who think the country’s on the right track, or who imagine that the DC Cartel can reverse course on the death spiral its policies have created. Anyone who is still a fan of politicians and their ‘solutions’ is, at this point, beyond the scope of rational discussion.

Of course there is it is just not practiced anymore. Conservatism can not exist apart from social conservatism, which is why we no longer see it practiced.

I respect your opinion. I have been reading your commemts for many years now.

I respecfully disagree on this one facet.

It’s just that every “reservation” seems so canned and scripted.
