It's not time to moderate, it's not time to listen to the GOPe that he ran against.

The only thing that could really hurt Trump now would be to get squishy on the stuff that got him where he is.

I think a lot of Always Trumpers will be shocked at how soft Trump will go if he believes it serves his purposes.

I know Trump loves America, but he lacks principles. Wait until he is elected and then starts compromising left and right with Democrats.

Indeed! The only thing that will stop a world wide caliphate is the will to stop a world wide caliphate.

He did not soften anything. He always said it was a TEMPORARY ban until they figured out what was going on.

If you figure out how to handle it, then even the TEMPORARY ban is unnecessary.

Reject any applicant without a thorough background and religious history and local national government approval.

That’s a start, and I didn’t even have to enact the ban.

“It’s a temporary ban. It hasn’t been called for yet,” Mr Trump said on Wednesday. “This is just a suggestion until we find out what’s going on.” That doesn’t sound like softening.

Banning Muslims was never the point. It was a negotiation tactic to get people talking about the migrant vetting process.

Which, since this is the Obama admin, it’s likely done in an irresponsibly lackadaisical half-assed manner. Esp. since it concerns Americans’ security.

He has moderated nothing. In this article he is quoted as saying. “it was a suggestion” and that is exactly right. No action to pass Legislation on the proposal (suggestion) has been put forth so at this time a suggestion is all it is.

He reiterated it was temporary. All he really said here and again last night on FNC is there would be exceptions and cited the Londonistan Mayor as one of them.

I actually thought something like that might happen with Obama. However, he got even more hardline as his reign progressed. A difference is that he had the 'rats totally in line with whatever he wanted. Trump (or any republican) will never have the sheep-like loyalty a 'rat president enjoys.

“This is just a suggestion until we find out what’s going on.” That doesn’t sound like softening.

How about saying that "it's the right thing to do" and "it's what I will try and get" instead of saying that it's "just a suggestion"?

Don’t soften. Just don’t.
We don’t want the dangerous unvetted muzzies that Obama continues to import and distribute across our America against our will.
He has said he wants 100,000 in here before his term ends.

We will become another Europe, where car bombings, mass attacks and killings, and rapes will be an everyday occurrance.

And “purposes” do you believe Trump will compromise for? Personally I see in Trump a man who did NOT want to run for President and he has said this many MANY times in past years but is doing so because he cannot any longer stand by a watch the country he loves be destroyed from within.

So again I ask you. WHY would he compromise on what he believes on and which has brought him so far in the election process? Re election...what? If one is to compromise his beliefs there must be a reason and a goal to be attained. What is that goal?

Or are you just another negative Trump hater?

Actually the US and Western Civilization needs a complete ban on muslim immigration.

It is a parasitic infection that destroys the host...EVERYTIME.

Consider the source; BBC. That runs up a big red flag in my mind.

This suggestion is a sack of BS. He has not changed. He said the band would be temporary until we figure out how to vet with security in mind. He will install the band after January when he takes office. Watch out for trolls, they will spin anything to keep the communists in power.

Trump for President.

Because it’s totally appropriate to call it a suggestion until more information is known.

Even if he were already acting president, he wouldn’t be able to arbitrarily implement whatever policies he decrees. We’re a nation governed by laws, and there’s also a Congress that’s probably going to need a say in this particular matter, etc.

clarifying, not softening.

his words have repeatedly been taken out of context and exaggerated by the rationally impaired.

He and Rudy will come up with legislation that is implementable, constitutional, and that works. He has stood firm in declaring that the problem is real, and we must be vigilant, and “find out what is going on,” first. It may have to focus mostly on undocumented folks from problem regions (regions Obama/Hilary and yes partially the Bushes have destroyed), in particular, along with methods to keep tabs on who is let in, and to what reasonable and manageable number can be allowed in. common sense stuff that our gov’t doesn’t have a handle on, because they don’t have our interests at heart.

Trump could “soften” his stance on the temporary ban (which I don’t think he has) any number of ways and he’d still be miles ahead of the other candidates (Hillary, Bernie, etc.), who basically want to open the floodgates. He’s the only one with the guts to at least be talking about it. The others are taking the usual appeasement stand, and all that got us was 9/11 and the other atrocities.
