Cruz: Those who bolstered Trump 'will bear that responsibility going forward'
The Hill ^ | ay 12, 2016, 09:45 pm | By Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 05/12/2016 6:51:04 PM PDT by M. Thatcher

Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."

Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.

"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.

"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."

Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.

"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."

Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.

"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.

He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."

Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.

"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.

Yes, I am aware that Cruz was asked repeatedly for interviews and declined. Fox asked and I heard Anderson Cooper say the same exact thing. I think Cruz will make some stink about the disproportionate coverage given to Trump (15x or whatever it was). I don’t think it’s a winning argument, but that hasn’t stopped him before. He’s lost many legal cases. It would be more about de-legitimizing the media and Trump and keeping his smug face in the news cycles about how the election was “stolen” by the media, etc. As with all facts, he’d simply never address the interviews he declined, because by Cruz logic, even if he had done them all, Trump still got more coverage. The way he’s talking now, it sounds like he’s got something up his sleeves. I just wanted to put it out there publicly in case I end up being right.

"Ted Cruz stands for everything this site stands for."

Ted Cruz is little more than toilet scum seeking to erode support for the standard bearer and ensure the election of Hillary Clinton.

Given his delusional spirituality I think he believes there will be divine wrath poured out upon all those unbelievers who didn’t buy his schtick.

I can’t see the future, but I still say not even Cruz would pursue such a sure loser. My take, and I could certainly be wrong, is that Cruz is referring to divine consequences. He saw himself as the anointed one/king, and he is on record saying God sanctioned his run.

Think about that.

If you believe you’re the anointed king, would you then believe God ordained/led you to run only to have you go down to ignominious defeat?

Cruz likely believes he was supposed to win, and only the sinful inclinations of voters denied him. [Cruz’ father, an official spokesman for the campaign, has said this in as many words more than once.]

If you believe you were divinely ordained to be POTUS, and only the willfully sinful bent of the voters derailed you, how would you feel? Maybe you’d be magnanimous, but Cruz has exhibited a vengeful streak. He may well be expecting divine retribution on voters and others who, in his mind, rejected the divine plan.

Crazy?

You bet. But you don’t have to dig far into Rafael Sr’s bio to hit pay-dirt crazy.

And some believe the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

“Question/suggestion to Cruz and his supporters:

“Why not focus on Hillary and stop attacking Trump?””

Cruz didn’t come out and support Trump. Maybe it has something to do with the attacks Trump made on his father and his wife, along with the attacks on Cruz. But Cruz didn’t attack Trump yesterday. He’s talking about rallying conservatives for the fight ahead, which clearly cannot be Trump since Trump has won (past tense) the nomination.

But FR posters seem more eager in attacking Cruz than they are in building support to stop Hillary. It i s a cult of personality that a lot of people, including me, find repulsive. Several of the people I’ve talked to have mentioned it as a reason to be more afraid of Trump than of Hillary.

Do the Trump worshipers want to win? Or do they merely want to promote their Messiah?

If you want to win, if you want to see President Trump instead of President Hillary, knock off crapping on others and start building support to stop Hillary. Hillary is the enemy. Not Cruz, and not those of us who supported Cruz. If you cannot figure that out, get used to the sound of “President Hillary”. That is what your vitriol is leading toward.

My guy lost. I’ve moved on. Your guy won - but you HAVE NOT moved on. Why?

Trump is NOT the source for what daddy Cruz was doing with Oswald. Think about it. Who on God's green earth would have that kind of intel? Someone else in the political world has the goods and it sure did not come from Trump. But of course the media hounds did ask Trump about it... Blame them and stop making false accusations. Somebody hit a nerve, because Cruz and Levin came unglued over the NE pictures and article. Trump is such a easy scapegoat for all Cruz's shortcomings.

You are in NO position to make demands of others when you do the very thing you accuse others of doing.

“Trump is NOT the source for what daddy Cruz was doing with Oswald.”

It’s my understanding that the guy who started discussing this in public on his blog is now dead. Found in a stairwell. And claimed to be suicide by authorities.

For those of us who kept up with the Clinton Death List years ago, that kind of coincidence is like a stroll down memory lane.

Senate Appropriations Bill Spends More Than Obama Requested

The U.S. Senate’s first spending bill of 2016 allocates $261 million more than President Barack Obama requested and lacks significant conservative amendments, but it still sailed to passage Thursday in the Republican-led chamber.

And you wonder why Cruz and his worshipers are so widely despised by most people. Every other word out of your mouths are insults and lies. So go vote for Hillery and join the rat party, it's where your kind belongs.

Yes, I read about his death. My point was/is the reaction by Cruz and Levin was ridiculous. Why not sue NE? Why make a supposed 'fake' story more interesting by going berserk on Trump and the Foxes... Just did not make 'common sense'.

Five paragraphs of Cruzlim delusion.

Cruz’s father is a campaign surrogate who repeatedly called Trump “evil”. Apparently, that is principled and conservative behavior in your book. Apparently, you hypocritically believe Cruz and his surrogates are allowed to smear Trump but he is not allowed to reply.

Trumpers didn’t pick this fight. For the THIRD time in a week and half Cruz has chosen deliberately incendiary rhetoric to stealthily continue his failed campaign and damage Trump.

Your messianic devotion to Saint Rafael of Calgary knows no bounds. Instead of lecturing Trump supporters you should look in the mirror and ask yourself why you support a Hillary enabler like bought and paid for career politician TPA Ted Cruz.

Why put someone on the S.C. who has so little regard for the Constitution, that he ignores the part which was written with people such as him in mind?

“Blame them and stop making false accusations.”

I’ve read what Trump said. Nothing false about my statement.

But I’m also more interested in the future than the past. Yet the Trump adherents are more interested in attacking Cruz than building support to stop Hillary. What is so hard about the concept: “Don’t piss on people whose vote you want”?

Do y’all WANT votes from former Cruz supporters? Do you want to win? Or do you just want to vent?

I’m meeting too many people who have voted against the democrats for years who are telling me they will sit this one out. Maybe that doesn’t bother you. But it bothers me! If it happens, Hillary will have an easy win.

BTW - I’ve been banned from National Review for posting “It IS an A or B choice - Hillary or Trump. And that makes voting Trump easy.” That simple statement was enough to get me banned from NRO as a rabid Trump supporter. I think NRO has lost its mind, and forgotten who the enemy is. I think a lot of Freepers have lost THEIR minds, too, and forgotten who the enemy is!

Ted Cruz stands for everything this site stands for.

On the issues Cruz is great. It looks like his ego has gotten the better of him because by refusing to endorse Trump he only helps Hillary.

President Hillary is not what this site stands for.

While it sounds crazy to those that are sane, I don’t doubt for one minute that could be his logic. The thing is that I don’t think he’s done making waves and I still expect some shenanigans with the convention. I wouldn’t put anything past him, given his belief that he was the “anointed” one.

Yawn. Now you’re just concern trolling. Nobody attacked Cruz until he continued his campaign with this nonsense. Loser Cruzers have nothing better to do than complain about that. How sad.
