If there's a trip one way, he said,
Into battle grim for me,
Don't let them say when I am dead:
He died to save democracy;
Nor let them say: He fought to free
Enslaved nations, white or brown;
Just print these simple words for me:

He would not let his cobbers down.

What did you delude yourself into thinking we 'won' by wasting hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of American lives trying to 'nation build' in Iraq?

The headline has changed. Now it’s

“Australian security contractor, 34, killed at embassy in Baghdad was ‘shot dead by fellow guard at accommodation block during heavy drinking session’”

You didn’t address my question, what do you think our hundreds of billions of dollars spent and thousands of lives lost had ‘won’?
Are you one of the folks that think Enlightenment is spread with bombs and bullets?

I think that you are very narrow minded, you lack any interest in complaining about the longest war in United States history that is currently still going on and the soldiers we are losing in that war.

You posted that we had 'won' something in Iraq.

I just asked what. It's strange you can't think of a single answer to a question we've paid hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of American lives for.

How do you feel about sending Americans sworn to defend the Constitution of the United States around the world to prop up monarchies? TWENTY-FIVE years we've been bombing for the Saudi and Kuwaiti tyrants - what have we 'won'?

Dropping bombs in more countries than you can name, more times than you can count, for longer than more than half the population in that region has been alive. What has it actually accomplished except accrue the U.S. bitter enemies and squander our resources?

Do you lack an actual answer?
Can you literally not think of what was ‘won’ by the U.S. Waging war in the Middle East for over twenty five years?

It’s odd how unable anyone is to articulate the goal of continuing these policies of persistent, deadly intervention in foreign countries.
I can imagine patriotic people in all countries resisting foreign interference, irrespective of the invaders offerings. That’s what the big govt abroad types don’t get. From Vietnam to Yemen, they don’t accept the same disgust that Main Street has with Washington DC is a thousand times worse when Washington DC is bombing hospitals in your neighborhood.

War is a racket.
The only way to win is to not play the game.

The old Safari browser on my iPad 2 double posts.
I’m not sure why you actually typed two more responses that again duck the question: What do you think we ‘won’ in Iraq?
Do you genuinely lack an answer? I can think a few to help you:
We won a few thousands more headstones.
We won a few thousand folded flags sitting on mantle pieces.
We won a couple hundred billion dollars more in debt that you, me, and our children will bear the interest expense on annually in perpetuity.
Your turn: Tell me what you think we ‘won’...
