By many measures, Obamacare is a success????? Until you try to use it.

My post is totally cynical and disillusioned with the medical profession as the answer to all problems. If folks bodies and/or minds are slipping away, it’s up to them to make lifestyle changes that enhance their well being. Hand them a book about nutrition and life style choices, give them some memory retention activity suggestions, and let them take it from there.

Well, it Obama, without any law, can force the IRS to call it Obamacare, the. There is nothing stopping a President Trump for reordering it to be called “Obamacrap CommieCare” and exploding heads all over liberal land.

Coming from the slimes, this is just a clarion refrain for single payer and making these doctors and hospitals government run. Watch for this in the very near future.

You can buy real insurance anytime you want.

That is actually a little misleading. For example my company is coming up on our group health plan renewal, and my boss was possibly looking for changes, as a small business the group premiums are expensive for us. Here's what we found:
1) As as small business we could throw everyone into a "buy" your own plan option (and quietly give raises to help compensate)
2) Any person in Texas that buys their own insurance, no matter where they get it from, that plan is a HMO
3) The hospital networks (at least in Houston) don't take HMO plans as of 1/1/16 - so you lose all access to networks that you once had
4) You could still see a doctor there, but you would have to pay full freight and not use insurance at all
5) The only plans accepted by the hospital networks are Group insurance plan, not individual

So yeah, you could go directly to an Insurance Company and buy a plan, but good look getting seen by a doctor if you need it.

We decided to keep our group plan, now we're going to adjust how much the employee pay, and how much the company pays.

AMY MOSES and her circle of self-employed small-business owners were supporters of President Obama and the Affordable Care Act.

It is beyond me how someone who displays a definite lack of critical thinking skills could be a successful entrepreneur.

No mention of the ‘emotional sting’ of having one’s income confiscated after failing, forgetting, or refusing to be dragooned into buying a product or service. Free country and all that.

I would gloat early and often, especially when encountering do-gooders who hailed the law as magic universal coverage and a panacea for those on the dole.

"The weird thing is Obamacare policies aren't cheap."

Not at all weird. Obama's objective wasn't to reform the health care system. The US health care system is even more dysfunctional and needlessly expensive than it was before. The objective was to normalize deviant behavior.

I was really doubtful my plan would be extended another year, but somehow it was.

I am dreading being pushed onto obamacare in November, I doubt my plan will be extended yet again.

I’m determined to try one those medi-share samaritan things. I forget the word used to describe them.

Nearly every paragraph is an “I-told-you-so” affirmation. What a Gawd awful mishmash of incoherent planning coupled with the law of unintended consequences.

And what make anyone think a few tweaks or new “plan” will be understood any better than Obamacare at its birthing? Obsessive compulsive activists will screw up anything they can get their hand on.

” (Massachusetts has done this for Medicare and Medicaid since 1986 without a ripple), but it’s more probable that we will have collapse and full nationalization by 2018 at the latest. “

I’m in MA and had a doctor( an Endocrinoligist) say that he didn’t accept Medicare in the late 90s. It is the only time that it has happened.

For the first time in my life, I cancelled all health insurance on Jan. 1, 2014, the day Obamacare went into affect. My wife and I have saved roughly $32,000 AFTER TAX dollars since then by having no health care insurance, and this is based on the bronze plan. We’re both 62, which is why the rates are so high.

We have had health care expenses since then. My eyeglasses and a dental appointment. Between them we’ve spent roughly $750. Insurance would have covered none of it anyway.

And for those that don’t know, avoiding the penalty is all about the 8% rule (actually 8.04%). Just keep your TAXABLE income below a certain point. It’s one of the reasons we moved from Seattle to rural, central KY. Heck, our annual property taxes on a home (new when we bought) and 32 acres are less than a car payment.

i.e. the cost of living here is extremely low.

It amazes me how in the world we got sucked into INSURANCE and not HEALTHCARE. Those who brought this INSURANCE into existence, and then voted it in for us, are the best INSURANCE SALESMEN in the world and we all know how much we like INSURANCE SALESMEN. No wonder we like Congress so much. Hello, I’m from the government and I’m here to help you . . .

4) You could still see a doctor there, but you would have to pay full freight and not use insurance at all

That does leave a hole in all of the bad news about Obamacare. If you settle for cash at time of treatment, there is a business incentive for the medical care provider to accept a fee amount that is significantly lower than gross charges or standard charges.

Get enough of that going on and the next thing you know there might be free market impact on the cost of healthcare. Buy a catastrophic coverage policy and pay cash for maintenance. Leave the charity medical insurance plan for people who need charity in order to survive. What a concept!

“That is actually a little misleading.”
Must be a Texas thing, in Florida none of that is true.
I bought my own plan, accepted everywhere,no HMO I can to any hospital I want. I costs me $300 per month, $5000 deductible. Free physical once a year.

“My wife and I have saved roughly $32,000 AFTER TAX dollars”
That is a three day stay in the hospital. You should think of about a catastrophic plan.
