Mitt Romney made an unsuccessful effort to recruit Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse as a third-party presidential candidate to challenge Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, a source with knowledge of the efforts confirmed to CNN Sunday.
Sasse, the freshman Republican, has emerged as one of Trump's foremost critics from the right. Romney and Sasse have talked, the source said, and Romney encouraged Sasse to seriously consider a run...
But Sasse is refusing to enter the race...
At the Nebraska GOP convention, Sasse was rebuked through a resolution that was overwhelmingly approved by Republicans there who argued that his position would only help Hillary Clinton win the White House..

These are nothing more than exaggerated leaks from the Romney camp. They want it to appear that Mitt tried and tried to get someone else to run as a 3rd party candidate, but nobody stepped up, so that will leave it to him. He will say that he made every effort for it to be someone else but since nobody else would do it, he’s “reluctantly” doing it “for the good of the party and the nation”. Just wait.

This guys barely rises to underwhelming.
Romney craves power, regrets not running this time, and wants revenge because Trump stated the truth: that he "choked like a dog" and should have won in 2012.
Trump also finished off Jeb easily, while Romney was so afraid of Jeb that he didn't enter the race.
He also wants Trump to lose so that he can run again in four years.
Actually I watched him on cnbc and he appeared to be a fan of Trump
