Cruz shuns Trump, GOP unity; says 'challenges' may lie ahead
Chicago Tribune ^ | 05/14/2016 | Tribune News Service

Ted Cruz on Saturday used his first speech since dropping out of the presidential race not to endorse Donald Trump or urge Republican unity behind him, but to maintain that core conservatives can save America.

Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, countered by deploying a top surrogate who did his best to woo skeptical Texas conservatives. Addressing thousands of cheering delegates at the Texas Republican Convention, many of whom climbed to their feet and waved red-white-and-blue "Thank You Ted!" signs, Cruz repeated some of the same promises from his defunct White House campaign, like abolishing the IRS.

"People ask, 'Are you disappointed?' Of course you're disappointed," Cruz said. But he also insisted he remains optimistic about American conservatism. "That movement is far more important than any one campaign, far more important than one candidate," Cruz said. "We may face some challenges ahead, but I am convinced that movement, the men and women gathered here, will be the remnant, will be the core of the movement pulling this country back from the abyss."

The weaklings who fainted for homobama won’t be voting for Trump, but the Reagan Democrats who voted for homobama will.

Woe to the pathetic cruznadians who crap all over the Reagan Democrats.

We’ll know the tide of immorality has turned when social conservatives stop participating in it through support of government power and violence - whether that’s in attempting to impose religious doctrine on others, supporting wars that have no substantial connection to national security, pursuing the war on drugs, or supporting the destruction of liberty in the name of security.

With such a record, today’s social conservatives are in no position to moralize to anyone - they’re just practicing a different but no less serious form of immorality. However, if they rediscover the importance of the virtue of humility and do some introspection of their own behavior with the aim to correct the evils therein - specifically the addiction to violence - then perhaps the sea change we are all hoping for will have the opportunity to come about.

You accused me of idolizing a false Christ because I dared intimate His compassion motive is even greater than His wrath motive and will win if anyone permits it to (as God permits humans to mount an adamant refusal).

And they call Trump a narcissist.

Cruz has voices in his head.

Why don’t you just opus instead of doing the lame passive aggressive trolling you think is clever?

Theophilus's contract with the Uniparty won't permit him the luxury of opusing out. He won't be any good to them if he getz the zotz. :)

Those idiots who supported arrogant Cruz, who needs em? We’re going to get a tsunami of support from former Obama supporters who voted for him twice and even fainted for him but now they regret it and will faint for Mr Trump.

Those “low info” idiots who supported arrogant Trump, who needs em? In 2018 Cruz will get a tsunami of support from former Obama supporters who voted for him twice and even fainted for him but now they regret it and will faint for Mr Cruz.

Cruz is just continuing his MO since arriving in the beltway. He’s still running for POTUS. He’ll never stop. Ever.

Nobody is going to be perfect — however serious reverence of a God who wants us to love one another as the chiefest thing on His agenda behind loving Him, will move us towards the better.

Wars can be just; however they won’t be just if they are unwisely prosecuted. To just “fight” an enemy without some idea of an end game, risks you becoming like that enemy.

He's slimey and creepy in the extreme, constantly oozing lies all over the place about his globalist agenda while slandering his noble colleagues in the Senate and Mr Trump. NOBODY likes him. He has no friends at all, none. Not even his mother, wife or children. He should just buy a junk van and live in it down some frozen river in Canada with his creepier father until he checks out, hopefully soon.

Anyone who even thought about voting for him should be forced to use the opposite transgender restroom of his choice with the rest of us until the eternal shame washes off.

I reckon the onus is on Trump to show he is more than a boorish unknown.

Everybody knows who Trump is, even the Cruzers. The sad fact was that Cruz was always the "unknown," but has shown his true face clearly.

Unless there is a specific, ironclad basis of self-defense, going to war is a violation of “Thou shalt not kill [murder]”.

Anyone who can’t follow even that Commandment has zero claim to Godliness.

This is a huge disconnect going on among social conservatives. They’ll put everything else aside in the name of the “right to life” and in the next breath advocate some aggressive, pointless war in which millions die.

They don’t seem to understand that it doesn’t cease to be murder if they have someone else do it for them.

That’s why social conservatism has dead-ended. The screaming hypocrisy has deafened everyone else to anything they might want to say. Cruz’ ignominy is but an encapsulation of everything that has gone wrong with socons.

What is this movement Cruz keeps talking about?

Certainly not anything he’s leading...
