Connecticut woman says she was harassed in Walmart bathroom (Trunc)

Even cisgender people aren’t safe from the transphobic mania over bathrooms.

A Connecticut woman, who sports a pixie haircut, says she was harassed in a Walmart restroom by a woman who apparently mistook her as transgender.

After posting a Facebook video about the incident, Aimee Toms said she’s been threatened by internet trolls and called a “lesbian” and “whore.”

“People have irrational fears, I'd like for them to know this simply isn't something to be so angry about,” Toms, 22, told the Daily News.

“Transgender people affect their lives in no way, shape, or form.”

The alleged incident comes as North Carolina’s obsessive quest to restrict transgender bathroom use has exploded into the national issue, with the Justice Department suing the state over the law it called “state-sponsored discrimination.”

Aimee Toms, 22, of Naugatuck, Conn., was mistaken for a transgender person and harassed in a Walmart bathroom. Aimee Toms, 22, of Naugatuck, Conn., was mistaken for a transgender person and harassed in a Walmart bathroom. In the ongoing debate over the state’s HB2 law, one school district has reportedly allowed students to carry pepper spray to ward off transgender students in bathrooms.

Toms said in her video she was using the bathroom at a Danbury Walmart Friday when a woman suddenly approached her from behind and yelled, “You are not supposed to be here! You need to leave!” The woman then flipped off Toms, told her she’s “disgusting” and stormed out, Toms said.

Toms said she believes her short hair, and the baseball cap she wore that day, made the woman mistake her for a transgender woman using the women’s bathroom — which, in Connecticut, is perfectly legal.

“I can get why at first glance she would mistake me for somebody who’s transgender,” Toms said in her Facebook video, which has been viewed nearly 20,000 times she posted it Friday.

But she was left shaken by seeing the hysteria firsthand.

Walmart has remained silent on the national debate over transgender bathroom use, even though its competitor Target took a firm stance supporting transgender customers.Walmart has remained silent on the national debate over transgender bathroom use, even though its competitor Target took a firm stance supporting transgender customers. (SAUL LOEB/AFP/Getty Images)  "This same thing happened in the 1960s when black people wanted to use the same bathrooms as white people," she said in the video.

"This is nothing different. History repeats itself."

Toms said she is cisgender and dating a man. She also said in the video a man once followed her into a women’s bathroom and tried to rape her — further proof, she said, that the fear of transgender terror in bathrooms is misplaced.

Toms said she didn’t report the incident, and Walmart did not respond to messages from the Daily News.

But the retail chain has thus far remained silent on the topic of transgender bathroom use — even though Target, one of its competitors, emphatically stated it is fine with transgender shoppers using whichever restroom they choose. The News asked Walmart to clarify where it stands on the debate.

It’as test to see whether or not we will attempt to achieve the righteousness of God with the anger of man. The devil bets one side, God bets the other.

The vote that matters more is what was held in their heart, not what was voted in a November. Was it for the devil. If so, the devil is now having fun with them.

In CT, where I’m hesitant to admit I was born, raised, and lived for most of my adult life - I can see a few things that Malloy is doing per the instruction manual.

He has created an argument. Now he needs spokespeople. I think at the heart of this, you will find Dannel Malloy.

I’m sure of it. Oh, and that f*ckface Blumenthal.

Looks fake to me - I notice that she never reported the incident, but wants it publicized on Facebook.

“Transgender people affect their lives in no way, shape, or form.”

This sounds really, really fake. Like a made-up story to say this.

Also 'cisgender' is a word I learned about a year or so ago, and still can't believe the word exists.

I love how the Wikipedia article on 'cisgender' says: "the sex they were assigned at birth". "Assigned"? What kind of verb is that for this?

I had noticed similar phraseology the other day. I told my self that it must mean what sex gets written on ones birth certificate. Still,........odd. I believe it promotes the fallacy that a fetus isn't life until delivery. We all know a babies sex is determined long before delivery. "Assigned at birth"??!!

Walmart used to check packages at the door.
Maybe they need to start checking ‘packages’ at the bathrooms and direct them to the appropriate room.

She's just pissed she was mistaken for a man with a bad haircut trying to imitate a woman.

This is full-on Communist infiltration speak. It has everything : Misinformation, double-plus-good speak and if you don’t do it, you’ll be harassed, shunned and ultimately arrested.

I tell this story a lot here on FR: I was written up at Yale University (Where I worked as a department head) for saying “Oriental”. Flashforward 13 years and I’m starting to think these “FEMA re-education camp” guys aren’t too crazy after all.

I’m pretty sure that if I said this in an authority position at Yale, campus security would hand me over to the New Haven police, where I could be whisked away for a weekend sensitivity training class where a complete psycho evaluation could be performed prescribing drugs for my condition.

It sounds crazy, but every aspect of that statement up there has precedent now.

God allows us free choice, and will allow His treasured creations to not only forsake him - but to mock the supernatural formation of life on this planet.

I’m all for God paying attention, but He specifically gave us the ability to choose. That was number 1 on his design.

So when we think that people here have to get behind us in line for the passage through the pearly gates, I disagree.

This is our fight to have on earth. Earth is worth fighting for, even when Heaven is the end goal. I mean Angels came to earth out of heaven to get with our women - I think that’s pretty a special place we have here.

We’re supposed to defend it and defend His vision on earth as followers of His word. To simply allow these demons and cretins to literally sh*t all over it, while “waiting for their judgement” I believe we would be no better.

We don’t judge. And I would never judge a girl because she looks like a man, nor a man because he looks like a woman (Read my stuff on Bill Kaulitz) but it’s not judgement when someone spits in your eye. No, that’s not judgmental to call a spade a spade. They are @$$holes and they need to know it.

Physically know it.
