Better messages would be to hold President Trump’s “feet to the fire”, in order to make sure that a President Trump is a presidency that’s full of conservatism, on all of the issues! Also, make sure that the next Congress (both, the House and the Senate) is full of actual conservatives who will succeed in passing conservative solutions to all of the issues!
I disagree. He was overtaken by a business man who was not afraid to go on all the talk shows and do interviews in the face of the enemy. Cruz could have done that be he chose to go a different route. Only in the last couple of weeks did Cruz start to appear on the Sunday talk shows. It was to little to late.

East of the Mississippi Ted Cruz was soundly and overwhelmingly defeated. Other than caucus Maine in which some obvious chicanery went on and in icy cold Wisconsin which was delivered to Cruz by the entrenched GOP establishment as a last gasp of the dying anti-Trump movement, Cruz was crushed in virtually every county.
You cannot be elected president on the basis of that performance.
