Sorry, you can’t have ‘equality’ and expect a tiered enforcement of the Law. We should be showing the logical end-game of the Leftists lunacy. “You want ABC? Well, it comes with X, Y and Z too.”

No, I say we challenge the foundations of the Leftist lunacy to begin with. Deny the initial premise that men and women are the same and thus must be treated the same. Get rid of all the laws that force us to do so. It is none of the government's business.

Nor do I read/hear/see ANYONE calling for drafting women to the front lines; there are PLENTY of positions behind.

First, in modern warfare there are no "positions behind" unless you want to keep women in the Continental United States. Second, if you want to keep women out of the front lines and in rearward positions, you are already distinguishing between men and women. Why not continue that distinction and keep them out of the draft altogether? Finally, every society, except is seems ours today, has valued the special role of women in the home. It is neither to the good of society nor to the good of the family to drag them out for forced military service. Enough with the PC nonsense that we cannot discriminate between the roles of men and women. We are different and a sane society would accept it.

Nothing prevents women from signing up now.

Do you simply reject the honorable responsibility of men to protect women and children? Why?

Even more to the point: Do you have any reason for believing that a Government that respects the people it governs, has a right to force those people to change their cultural heritage? Why? Isn't that the very notion that was rejected in 1776? (See the link to the Declaration, above.)

The Republicans can punt because this issue will be decided in the courts.

There is no court in this land that will say that women don’t have the right to be drafted and serve in the Infantry.

What is wrong here is not excluding women from registering for Selective Service, it is REQUIRING men to register.

Except that able bodied men have a responsibility to protect the nation in time of war, women do not. It, by the way, this recognition that the entire citizenry, and not just a professional standing army, has a responsibility to answer the call-to-arms that is the basis for the Second Amendment.

Selective Service itself needs to be eliminated, it is outdated and discriminates.

Yes, it discriminates, but so what? Not all discrimination is unjust. The law discriminates when it says only those who have passed medical school can perform surgery. Men and women are different and just laws would take into account these differences.

Hey; Obastard, the Joint Chiefs, and a lot of very vocal lesbos say these girls are my equal in strength, toughness, and ability in combat.
SO LET THEM BE DRAFTED IN THE NEXT WAR, JUST LIKE THE YOUNG MEN.
YOU WANT TO BE EQUAL BABY? HERES YOUR M-14 AND 2000 ROUNDS, GET HUMPIN.

I served in the military. I served alongside women who performed the same duties that I performed.

I repeat: You should be arguing for the banishment of all women in the military. If you don't, then you are being hypocritical if you think that women can volunteer to enlist in the military, but cannot be drafted in the military.

“Right now the draft is sexist,” said Rep. Duncan D. Hunter (R-Calif.)

So, what is his point?

the right to be drafted

That is a pretty upside down concept. No one has a right to be called to service. The question is whether society has a right, via Government, to call them to service.

You ignore my question of responsibility; but you repeat a non sequitur.

This is a waste of both of our times.

We can always argue the merits of drafting women if and when that time comes, but registering for the draft does no harm, and bestows a sense of responsibility.

Incorrect. Requiring women to registers for the draft makes them liable for the draft. If the day were ever to come that we would have to implement the draft there would be no rational reason to exclude women. Women should not have to face the moral danger of being drafted.

It also treats 18 year old men and women equally under the law.

Men and women are different and should not be treated the same under the law.

Then ban all women from serving in the armed forces. If they can serve voluntarily, they can serve involuntarily.

There is much to say for this. The role of women in the military is already too great. Their inclusion does not enhance military preparedness. Bring back the WACK's and limit them to clerical duties away from combat zones.

Women have been proudly serving voluntarily in the US military since WWII. There was no need to register them then and no need now. When men start bearing children then women can register for the draft.

To eventually stop this we need to challenge the current assumption that men and women must be treated equally in all fields. But it is woman who must rise up and DEMAND that our society return to the proper distinctions between men and women. Men will only be called sexist if they were to try.
