'God Being Eroded, Eclipsed, Liquidated' in the U.S., Cardinal Says ("Demonic Threat" to America)
US News ^

Posted on 05/18/2016 12:31:27 PM PDT by quesney

Recent events in the U.S. are destroying Americans' ability to connect to God, according to Cardinal Robert Sarah, a native of the West African nation of Guinea.

In a keynote address at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, Cardinal Sarah said that in the United States, "God is being eroded, eclipsed, liquidated," Catholic News Agency reports.

Cardinal Sarah pointed out specific events "in the name of 'tolerance'" that have contributed to this erosion, including "the legalization of same sex marriage, the obligation to accept contraception within health care programs, and even 'bathroom bills' that allow men to use the women’s restrooms and locker rooms."

"Should not a biological man use the men’s restroom?" he said in his prepared remarks. "How simpler can that concept be?"

He further warned that subversions of the church's teachings – including a "demonic 'gender ideology'" – could lead to the family unit becoming "a place where human beings can be humanly and spiritually wounded.

To combat these subversions, Cardinal Sarah encouraged the audience to "be prophetic, be faithful, and above all, pray."

"The Holy Father [Pope Francis] openly and vigorously defends Church teaching on contraception, abortion, homosexuality, reproductive technologies, the education of children and much more," he noted.

"In the end, it is God or nothing."

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sister Constance Veit of the Little Sisters of the Poor also delivered remarks prior to the cardinal's keynote address.

Name another church that consistently stands up against gay marriage, abortion, all this transgender crap, etc. Unfortunately, there aren’t many left.

And the Catholic church is joining those ranks quickly enough.

Besides, it's up to the individuals to make a stand against stuff like that.

It's all fine and good for Catholics to point to the fact that the RCC has done that, but when you examine the personal lives of individual Catholics, they fall far short of it.

I've met no more than a handful of conservative Catholics in real life. All the rest are liberal as they come and proud of it.

There is some major disconnect between official church teaching and the parishioners and unless the Catholic church has the power to positively influence the lives of the people in it, then it's words will amount to nothing in the long run as it will not have any positive impact on individuals or society.

So the Pope, vicar of Christ on earth is a faux leader. Really? You sir are misinformed. I am a Catholic and do not agree with everything that emanates from Pope Francis' mouth but he is not by any means a false leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

If the pope is indeed the vicar of Christ on this earth, then WHY doesn't he better represent Christ?

Is Christ a socialist?

Would you expect Jesus to utter some of the things this pope has spoken?

And if he's Christ's representative, how can you dare to disagree with him, not follow him, or claim that he's wrong?

I simply do not see how Catholics can rationalize the behavior of this man with he purported role.

He ought to clean the house of Rome before he starts pointing other places. It is the Vatican itself that has been and continues to be demonic. Father Martin outed Rome long ago

For him to NOT forcefully denounce the slaughter of Christians in the ME, means what to you?

Quite frankly, I try to ignore him. While I do love/respect the Chair of Peter, I don't have to be keen on everyone who sits in it.

G-d is never eroded. That is not possible.

The human race, however, IS destroying itself in a truly Biblical fashion - and very, very quickly.

Name another church that hides it’s homosexual pedophile priests. One that is so corrupt with power that when leading catholic politicians defy the church on abortion the leaders of the church do nothing, zero, zip, nada.

My church stands against these things.

Well what you said I agree, and that’s what makes him a faux leader.

And I in no way think he is vicar to Christ. In a different time he would burn me at the stake

The pope is, lamentably, well to the left on issues of economics, foreign and military policy, etc. But he is not to the left on the so-called "social issues" such as homosexuality, abortion, contraception --- in fact, on these I daresay he's more conservative that many FReepers.

He's wrong about some things. ("Global warming," oh my aching head.) That doesn't make him wrong about everything.

Get ready for your spankin’. Don’t think we’ve gotten any better since 1973 do you?

The Apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Akita, Japan,
to Sr. Agnes Sasagawa 1973.

The words of Our Lady to Sr. Agnes.

“As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests.”

“The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres...churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

“The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them”

There are some other paradoxes too, like we are (a piece of) the church. We might want to show the world what it looks like when church goes to Tae Kwon Do, etc, depending on how the Lord has arranged our lives.

"Catholics didn't establish & build this country"

Of our American Founding Fathers, 90% were members of just three denominations: Episcopalian/Anglican (54.7%), Presbyterian (18.6%), and Congregationalist (16.8%). Here's the source for these figures.

So unless you're descended from one of those three denominations, with ancestors all the way back to the American Revolutionary War era, your ancestors, like mine, played only a small role in the formal leadership of the founding of the USA.

Catholics did, however, play a huge role in the building of this country. The largest source of American ethnicity is still German (larger even than British Isles), and 2/3 of them were Catholic. Together with the Spanish, Irish and Poles, Slavs, Hungarians, Italians and the rest, they explored our frontiers, named our mountains and rivers, settled our wilderness, built our cities, manned our industries, founded and expanded our hospitals, schools, Universities, cared for our sick, elderly and orphans, fought in our wars, and laid down their lives for our Flag "and the Republic for which it stands."

It's a history and a legacy of which I am proud to be an inheritor --- and of which all Americans are beneficiaries.

I have 5 families listed in the Sons of the Revolution Charter...

A congregation doesn’t have to be perfect (which is good, because on earth it can’t be perfect) to be of effect to much good.

Baptists aren’t to be seen in that list either so I guess with Roman Catholics they could be viewed as underdogs.

Anyhow, it’s awareness of the Lord that is suffering here. More and more people opt more and more for the devil — so the devil is what they get. We can’t wipe God out — we can only misdirect our attentions away from Him.

There is no argument. There is a higher rate of child sex abuse in US public schools than in any church, and the rate for all churches, including the Catholic Church, are nearly the same.

So sorry you weren't aware.

The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod stands strong on Biblical orthodoxy and teaching. They are firm against gay marriage, abortion, transgender and all the rest of the social rot in our country. Individual sinners however, are welcomed if they repent and turn from their error.

I would not be surprised to hear of a lot of churches do the same.

Problem is, you’ll never hear about it from the MSM.
