Did I say anything about free? I don’t recall any such thing. What FB knows about me is I’m a family oriented person fighting an aggressive cancer.

The truth is, I see more posts regarding conservative issues than liberal issues. I see more posts bashing Hillary from both sides of the aisle. I see posts pro gun posts.

But, mostly, I see new graduation and prom pics. Grand babies. Prayers for sick friends and families. Notices of a death. And lots and lots of puppies and kitty videos.

This is crazzy...a conservative site basically makes fun of conservatives who brought to light FB censorship...then another conservative site like FR thinks its trivial...

Perhaps you havent heard of the FB news blackout in europe on the problems Muslims are causing....or

the fact that google practically has an office at the WH..
http://watchdog.org/265252/visitor-logs-google-white-house/...

These orgs do censorship for a reason....to tip the scales in this presidential election....Zuckenberg is not for the people, he’s part of the establishment...it’s a tyranny of a monopoly

No concervative takes their personal space lightly. However, it is a tool and has helped add to some quality of my life under my present circumstances.

The last place on earth do I get my news is Facebook. Facebook is for keeping up with friends and family. I could careless about the side bars or whatever it is containing news. But Facebook seems to be taking this situation seriously. No other company has invited conservatives to talk ever especially to the CEO. I applaud that.

Facebook gathers information. It then resells that information to others (usually to tailor ads to you specifically)

I lie a lot on FACEBOOK

I once did a goggle search on my name and found hundreds. I then copied images of those who shared my name and then posted an album tagging them all with my name.

Which one is the real me? Let them figure it out.

I lie about my age and education and where I live.

I make random comments on my time line about people or places far away (which is how I discovered they are tracking me as ads would pop up within minutes of me naming a place).

So they have a lot of information on me but a lot of it is crap.

We have family all over the world, Facebook allows us to remain connected, share events, and photos.

Rule number 1 - do not put anything on facebook you don’t want the world to see.

Rule number 2 - stay away from politics.

Good advice. I use FB as an album for art and music. They only have my name and now, I am sorry I didn’t put a fictitious one. No pictures of me, my family ever. I share my passion of art and music with people all over the world. I never will talk politics or religion, waste of time as the majority, even foreigners, are socialists. For that there is Free Republic...

Whomever “owns” the site can do whatever they wish. I’ve seen it firsthand

We know Facebook has engaged in censorship.
The CEO of the company was caught on hot mike fall 2015 agreeing with Merkel that they would censor anti-Islamic immigrant comments.
Reddit has had a problem for years with liberal downvoting brigades, and those same groups flag conservative individuals’ and groups’ pages as hate speech, getting them banned.
A Jewish group recently posted two similar pages, one pro-Palestinian full of Jew hatred, the other pro-Israel full of hatred. The Jew hating one was kept up, the other immediately flagged and taken down.

The trending news is a red herring. The bigger issue is the admission of accounts and profiles being deleted solely because they didn’t like what somebody posted, like criticism of Obama. We’re not talking “hate speech” or Neo-nazi rhetoric.

Yeah the internet is a gray area for the 1st amendment, but it’s still an issue.

I believe we are talking 2 separate thingss....I’m just talking about conservatives not being concerned about FB censoring conservatives...and also they are very aggressive pushing the liberal agenda...especially illegal immigration from the ME...

As source of adding to quality of life...I agree with that...it is a great source for talking to friend/relatives etc...but they are taking advantage of the power they have...and it is intended to make a difference in this election..

Thank you for clarifying the points. Yes, it does concern me that what I post, no doubt, is going into a databank of some sort. Mainly, what I post are things that can be obtained freely. Although, I do ‘like’ concervative posts, especially 2nd ammendment and anti hillary stuff. I see very little pro Bernie. A lot of anti-hillary and a share of anti-trump. Less anti-Trump these days than even a month ago.

But, I’ve had to be a ‘bubble girl’ after my stemcell transplant for (AML) acute leukemia. So, it got pretty lonely at times. I’ve accepted the new normal, but my FB friends definitely keep me company in the evenings. For now, I guess it’s a trade off. Just need to be careful not to feed the machine. Trust me, I get it.

And no one is alleging Facebook’s supposed activity is illegal. Unseemly, yes, but not against the law.

Actually, spreading enemy propaganda and targeting American civilians with psychological warfare IS against the law.

Holly I totally understand you’re situation....actually from your 1st response I kinda sensed something medical might have been going on with you..my wife has had fibromyalgia for 15 years and diabetes for 4...her active life which revolved around our family, her friends and church has really changed...almost disappeared...

she recently got on FB....and it has really been a blessing...but I warned her about FB and it’s role that it plays in in my estimation furthering Obama’s agenda...which is actually probably given to him from powers above him

be that what it may being prudent and cautious she has really enjoyed being on FB...we have ordered her Dummy for Facebook from Amazon and everyday she is out at that mailbox seeing if it came....she really wants to get a better handle on the intricacies of FB.

glad we got this non-issue put to rest..we will definitely be praying diligently for you and a miraculous return to your ‘old life’ :)

“But, I’ve had to be a ‘bubble girl’ after my stemcell transplant for (AML) acute leukemia. So, it got pretty lonely at times. I’ve accepted the new normal, but my FB friends definitely keep me company in the evenings.”

You know exactly what you are using FB for, and are putting it to good use, with eyes wide open, and you obviously derive much pleasure from your FB friends. All the more power to you. Especially in light of your health issues.

FR serves a similar purpose for many of us. It’s a place to gather, not just for politics and news, but for friendships one forms too. It’s a bit of an extended family, isn’t it. For house-bound folks the Internet is a godsend. What with blogs, news-sites, utube, videos, email, etc., it’s a whole new way to communicate, and any physical impairments one might have mean nothing when surfing the Web. The only prerequisite is that you have a functioning brain, lol.

I love being able to communicate with friends and family, literally all over the world. It’s so nice to easily keep in contact with others we care about, and you know there are people out there that have your back. You go girl, and enjoy your time on FB with your friends.

Thank you so much for your support and prayers. It truly means a lot.

Please ask your wife to check her settings. There is a place where she can turn off settings to be searchable thru the web, by phone number, and email address listed. Those should definitely be shut off. Also, she can customize who she shares with via custom. Like share with friends, except X,Y,Z.

I really enjoy all the extras pages which pop up if you ‘like them’ such as home remedies and stuff like that. I belong to ‘private/join only’ AML leukemia pages. So, anything I write on those pages are not visible for the rest of my friends to see. That's my lil world of support. There are fibromyalgia pages too. Search for the ones you have to join so it creates a little more privacy from her ‘friends’.

I used to cringe after my first couple of posts, it felt so vulnerable. Now, it's like what the hell. After this year, this kind of thing just doesn't make me flinch.

Thank you again for your support. I still take daily investigational chemo, even after the donor transplant. My mutation doesn't have the best prognosis, so I'll take whatever help I can get. Plus, I'm on a ton of other meds. Together, it makes me a little ‘stupid’ at times. Seriously. XXOO to all of you walking a journey and carrying a heavy cross.

Actually, spreading enemy propaganda and targeting American civilians with psychological warfare IS against the law.

Often, speaking freely does violate someone's notion of God's law, but our government permits us to say pretty much anything we want in the form of opinion. Facebook certainly has nothing to worry about.

Smith Act

The Smith Act set federal criminal penalties that included fines or imprisonment for as long as twenty years and denied all employment by the federal government for five years following a conviction for anyone who:

"...with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or...organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof."

Laws on Subliminal Marketing

The Federal Communications Commission will revoke the broadcast license of any company that uses subliminal marketing in its broadcast. . .

. . .sections 5 and 12 of the Federal Trade Commission Act. These sections forbid any advertising that is deceptive or unfair. Subliminal marketing falls under the category of deceptive, according to court rulings and the FCC. For advertising to be barred based on unfairness, the act must be intentional and affect commerce, which could be harder to prove for subliminal marketing.

Facebook apologises for psychological experiments on users

Facebook’s second most powerful executive, Sheryl Sandberg, has apologised for the conduct of secret psychological tests on nearly 700,000 users in 2012, which prompted outrage from users and experts alike.. . .he statement by Sandberg, deputy to chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, is a marked climbdown from its insistence on Tuesday that the experiment was covered by its terms of service. The secret tests mean that the company faces an inquiry from the UK's information commissioner, while the publishers of the paper have said they will investigate whether any ethics breach took place. Psychological tests on human subjects have to have "informed consent" from participants - but independent researchers and Facebook have disagreed on whether its terms of service implicitly cover such use.
