On Wisconsin!
Yet another feather in the headdress of the Governor.
Walker getting it done! As usual. Too bad he faltered in the presidential primaries.
“The exact what purpose of the new regulation is not clear. It may have been related to WWII, because the back tag regulation was put in place between Pearl Harbor and the first deer season that occurred after the start of the war.”
Proofread, proofread, proofread. Very poorly written.
Still interesting, thanks for posting.
“Perhaps Wisconsin legislators feared armed German or Japanese agents roaming the Wisconsin North woods.”
One could probably read the debate transcripts to find out if that was the case, but it is actually very likely.
The Japanese actually invaded Alaska in June of 42. A little known fact. They were quickly routed out, but made the obvious point that the north was a bit of an open door.
However, I believe it would’ve been easy for the nips to forge such a tag so it would’ve been easily flouted.
So if that was the justification, it was, like happens a lot today, someone desirous of expanding gov’t taking advantage of a political situation.
