Full title: Hitting the bottle to cope with the kids and how 'have a magical day' is code for 'go f*** yourself': Staff reveal what it's REALLY like to work at Disney

Working at a Disney theme park is a dream for many children, but it turns out that dressing up like a fairy tale princess isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Employees at the company's theme parks have been sharing revelations about their jobs on the anonymous confessions app Whisper and the stories range from heartwarming to heartbreaking.

Among the secrets shared, staff members revealed that they wanted to kick the children, they are banned from dyeing their hair and that mean guests can often leave them in tears...

One employee said: 'I work at Disney World and being around children and their parents all day every day has taught me how not to raise my children.' ...

Did the Behind the Scenes at Disney tour at Disney World. Learned a lot about Disney and the cast.
The other side of this story is that a lot of cast members leave higher paying jobs just to work as cast at Disney. I am sure there is a lot frustration and aggravation with guests, but most of them really would rather be a Disney than just about any other job.

I would hope that this hidden meaning would not apply all the time where a blessing is concerned. I would be curious how many southerners agree with this as a generalization.

I used to fly in and out of Orlando frequently. Nothing worse than a plane load of spoiled brats that are whining because I don’t want to go home. I don’t miss it.

“Which is why you tell them, “Oh no...bless YOUR heart.””

A real southerner would reply, “Why, aren’t you precious!”

My late wife, and several of our kids, worked at Disneyland; and ... later ... we hosted young Europeans working summers at Disneyland. It was a great experience for those that worked there ... and us. Wonderful memories!

There’s a liquor store in front of our local grade school. I tell the kids that they drive their teachers to drink, so the store has to be within walking distance.

Ah. I’ll have to remember that.

My response would be simpler: “Well, f*ck you too, grandma.”

So they are complaining because they have to be professional at work.

In a nutshell.

I LOL at the ones who whine that they can't express their individuality act like social lemmings by not having piercings, tattoos and freakish hair dyes.

Not everyone enjoys seeing you dress up like a giant bruise. You'll thank us later when you want to be a manager at a major corporation.

I worked at Time Warner Cable and sometimes dressed in costume for various festivities. We had to sign that we were not ALLOWED TO SPEAK while in costume so as not to harm the Warner Brothers image. Man, those costumes were so hot, I always came out soaked in sweat and dehydrated.

And, yes, little boys love to kick and poke you because they are hands-on little testers for everything.

This is human nature. Most normal folks biggest fear is being unemployed, yet my observation over the years is that almost immediately after becoming employed, most (not all) begin complaining about their job. This doesn’t apply to Liberals of course who are usually chronically unemployed/unemployable; they complain that the entitlements and handouts are insufficient for them to keep their iPhone 6 and WiFi service.

Every job has its stressful elements, and I have no issue with the Disney cast members venting their frustrations amongst themselves or anonymously on an Internet site.

What I care about is, how do they treat their customers? And my experiences with Disney World and with Disney Cruise Line is that they treat them very, very well. I can recall standing in a long, long line of hyped-up girls, just so my then-three year old could see her princesses. And when our turn finally came, those princesses made it seem like seeing my little girl was the absolute highlight of their entire day.

So yeah, if they want to badmouth me behind my back, I couldn’t care less. Where it counts, they deliver.

I worked at an amusement park for 3 seasons. You learn to turn off your ego. No matter how nasty the customer became, I always smiled at them because they paid to be there and I was getting paid to be there.
It also drove them crazy.

went once because my spouse was there for business. I hated every minute of Disney and our kids didn’t care for it either. Waste of time and money.

Here's a notion for you, honey. You're not being employed to "express your individuality." You're being paid to do a job. And that job requires that you look like a relatively normal human being, and not a Barnum & Bailey b-lister.

Dye your hair nuclear green. Pierce your eyeballs. Get a tattoo in your sphincter. Just don't come to Disney and demand that they give you a job.

That said, I think Disneyworld is about the phoniest, most over-hyped waste of money I've ever experienced. Next time you hear "It's a Small World," substitute "It's expensive, after all."

My daughter worked at Disneyland for a number of years and she really liked it. I never heard her bad mouth the place. But, I imagine you can find unhappy disgruntled people anywhere.

some of the people identified are union character performers not the rank and file cast members.

Ask around... you’ll find that it is a very common Southern practice to substitute “bless your heart” for a more vulgar insult.
