The thing about these "let's make this super hero gay" campaigns is that 99.99 percent of everyone calling for it doesn't actually read or watch Super Hero stuff anyway. We're talking about the most neurotic people on Earth who are literally offended by everything. These are the people I met at university who would randomly tell me that they wished their own parents would die. These people merely keep pushing and pushing their bizarre agenda to the point that they manage to convince major companies that they actually represent some kind of mainstream consensus. Then that company, utterly deceived, panders to these people only to see their sales plummet. The social justice warriors don't care since they don't read comic books anyway. They read Mother Jones and complain about their therapists. (I'm not joking. I've met a large number of them.)
There are dozens of gay super heroes already, it's just that none of them are very good or as popular as the "white cisgender males" like Superman or Batman. Well, Superman reads like Super-Obama lately--which doesn't seem to be very well received-- but they're planning to kill him and replace him with the classic Superman version anyway. (In the DC universe, classic and "modern" Superman are two distinct individuals.) The obvious reason: sales are awful.
Let's face it. Teenage boys--which is what these comic books are geared to-- don't want to read about a gay Captain America or a social justice Superman, no matter how much the cultural Marxists shove this material down their throat. That's why sales of both DC and Marvel Comics have been plummeting, while their relatively unmolested (by social justice ideology) films are the only things making substantial money now.
The only positive thing to take away from this is that the in-your-face agenda pushing has served to only drive away the viewing public. Perhaps we've reached a point of saturation where all the old methods of social subversion, which have successfully made gay marriage an acceptable thing for half the country, are now starting to backfire like never before. Only time will tell for sure.
“gay” is old. He/she/it should be a transgender. Maybe they can have captain America identify as wonder women. The plot can be about getting urinals installed in the womens’ bathrooms and have evil NC lawmakers who must be defeated. That’s a sure blockbuster.

All it would take is on closed mouth peck on the cheek of Ironman and the whole franchise would go down the tubes.

Personally I think this is a conspiracy brought about by the plumbing unions to get more work.
They want everyone to be Gay (really God Cursed Sodomites) from Jesus, to Lincoln, even fictional characters—like Captain America and Batman. Some even say Superman should be gay. We must fight against this Gay quest—Its enough that we have real gay people like Rock Hudsom and Raymond Burr, why must we invent Gay heros?
Nah just use Batman and Superman for that crap. One wears his underwear on the outside of his pants the other wears them on his head. No one will be surprised if they come out of the closet..

I recall when the Captain America movie was first being rumored - That the tag phrase was supposed to be “Truth, Justice and all that stuff”. I was livid.
But when I got around to seeing it, I LOVED it. I haven’t seen the past 3 or 4 movies but I think they did very well with the character and regaining what being an American hero is.
I mean, I like the fact that in the 40’s he was a scrawny kid who would do anything for right - I didn’t really like the fact that he got there by virtue of a machine. But hey, whatever.
At least it wasn’t that “And all that other stuff” BS that I was told was going to be there.

Muscular? Don’t be shape biased. Or able-body biased. Cap needs to be fat and disabled to fight for social justice properly.

You’re mixing two things. In Superman Returns, Perry White said, “Truth, justice and all that stuff.” It made it into the movie. The only thing objectionable about the three Captain America movies was the directors saying after the latest one that they want gays, trannies, whatever in their future movies. And I think they just answered the question in a way that noncommittally appeased the questioner.
Why not just call him captain Sodom?
