Why Newt Gingrich for VP Is Pure Genius

The media still can’t figure out why Newt Gingrich is at the very top of Donald Trump’s VP list. A recent Slate article starts this way: “Donald Trump selecting Newt Gingrich as his running mate would be insane.” The writer asserts Gingrich would be the “perfect” pick for Trump, implying the GOP front-runner is crazy as well. Call Donald Trump a lot of things; crazy is not one of them. Controversial, audacious, sometimes brash and extreme — all yes. But the primaries have showed Trump is a brilliant communicator and master tactician. “Crazy” like a fox, perhaps. Recently, I had lunch with a group of GOP billionaires and power brokers. The group had various feelings about Trump, pro and con. But all were dazzled by his ability to win a hotly contested Republican primary “all by himself,” as one of the attendees put it. (Billionaires hate spending money; that’s how they become rich. So they admire Trump for his “no-frills” approach.) Trump doesn’t think like a politician — and that's been his greatest strength with the public. When a “normal” presidential candidate looks at picking a vice presidential running mate, the candidate usually weighs what a selection brings to the ticket. Does the prospect carry a state? Would a woman, black or Hispanic help with one of those groups? Those are the questions, and others, asked by the candidates and their closest advisers. Trump wouldn’t ask those questions. He believes he is going to win this election himself. He will win women, blacks, and Hispanics by what he says and does.

I don’t consider it pure stupid, I’m just not considering it. It’s not Newt.

Just because YOU are out of your mind and so very emotionally tied to Teddykins, doesn't mean that others have your problems. On the contrary....we see reality and based solely on facts, we know exactly who and what Cruz is and knowing this, don't want him in any position in our government.

Yeah, but there are still five months until the election...or Trump might rebrand for his second term...

I still think it’ll be Cruz. Flame away.

Not possible to flame when there is no kindling available.

General Francisco Franco has a better chance of being Trump's VP choice, and would probably do a better job in his expired state than would Cruz.

Trump has an IQ. So he will not even consider that reptilian charlatan Cruz as VP.

As others have stated Newt is much more suited to Chief of Staff. I’ve confidence that Donald will make his choice and few will be unhappy with his decision. As Roger Stone shared with us today, Corker (not being considered) had called Mr. Trump wishing to set up a meeting with him. Praise be that man is not in the running. Mr. Trump will more than likely think out of the box, make his choice on one who sees the USA like he and the two will work together to make America great again.

>>Folks, if you don’t know why Newt isn’t a good idea, please leave this issue to others.<<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Newt was branded as a person that told his wife he wanted a divorce while she was dying of cancer in the hospital.

Though this has been debunked by people who were there (daughter), and the 1st wife did not die; still, I think it would make a difficult resonance with Trump given the nature of attacks on him.

Keep in mind that we are probably going to be facing a Clinton/Warren ticket, which many woman will be attracted to regardless of their political leanings.

Trump needs to get out ahead of this and finish branding Pocahontas before the Dims get a chance to brand their all-female ticket.

Cruz lost and still has not quit or called supporters to stand down. He is still not eligible so cannot be picked. He should be looking for dog catcher role in Texa s, else how to get his Canadian or Cuban citizenship back.

He’s going to be re-elected easily in 2018.

NONE. But it humors people to think that Cruz has any future in US politics. I bet he won’t get reelected. I am donating to anyone that can primary him and Ryan.

How could I fundraise for a campaign that no longer exists? You folks need to get over your Cruz hatred. Without the votes of those who supported Cruz in the primaries, Hillary wins in November.
